in my personal site Iβm using pico.css and it does a great job at keeping the HTML clean and readable
Turns out that HTML is better than markdown for writing web pages.
You donβt need MD to write posts on your personal blog.
I built my own (best and last) static site generator years ago.
- A single ~200 lines Python file
- 2 client-side deps: pico.css & highlight.js
- Pages written in HTML (not MD)
- Front matter uses TOML
- It has templates, includes, blog support
- Build and publish to Github pages on push
