Lots of top level players in a lot of games are older but how many of them started playing that game or similar games competitively in their late 20s or 30s? Lots of top splaty players are 14-16, necessarily meaning they were able to get there within a few years of starting comp

I feel like a big part of it is probably neural plasticity and free time. When you're younger (mid-late teens) your brain is much more able to quickly adapt to what it needs to do to be successful at a game, and you also likely have more time to spend practicing than when you're an adult
