Ironically, this is the sketchbook I drew this in.

All the old drawings, all their errors, are snapshots of my life when they were made. Available level of skill, of energy/attention. Especially in the days of AI turning the art world upside down, having made "bad" art is something that makes me feel ...human. This is a journey. I was there. #noai 💪

Done in 2003, while I was having some Chinese noodles in a very small and ratty "Blade Runner"esque eatery, inside a shipping container squeezed into the rear of a parking garage in Cologne. This place was surreal, the noodles were unhealthy, diarrhea or no diarrhea was a coin toss, but the times back then were just magic. This was weeks before I started into 2D animation via Film School. I doubt I even would find this place again, if it still exists.

Hope you folks don't mind me posting some older stuff and sketches, too. Some is yet unpublished, some has been on former Twitter and is gone now, some is already on FA.
And I love walking down Memory Lane every now and then, and post some really old pics that still make me smile.

I tortured my teachers & fellow students with Axe Alaska for years, and am deeply sorry for the distress this may have caused. All of us used this. Teaching adolescents must have been hard. One spark & the dense Axe cloud would have gone kerblooey. 💥

It sure sounded like this, and poor foxy got more and more riled up, realizing her play toy now was out of reach. So adorable. I was half expecting those high-pitched frustration sounds. 😅 Awwww.

Bet the mouse got a story to tell its family tonight. Including being airborne three times.

Today at Berlin Botanical Garden, we met the sister of the fox we saw last week (who was present also). She was even more curious, came very close. Tried to catch a mouse later, but the mouse was smarter - made it to a hollow tree after some minutes, sending this lady trotting off in frustration. ❤️🦊

Oh, I love digital V2T and voice memos for brain dumping, when a new idea needs to get out and captured fast.

But slowing down my thoughts is exactly what I am doing this for. Letting thoughts ferment. Inspire new ideas, while the pen forces you to mull over them. It is meditative, not effective.

Trying to establish a ritualized morning routine:
Light a candle, have a hot cuppa, and transcribe/distill the small brain-dump notebook into a larger forever notebook. Writing with a fountain pen forces me to slow down my thoughts. And suddenly, stress fades, ideas grow. ❤️
