Fact 1: Cows are the heaviest group of mammals on Earth 🐄

Fact 2: Beef has a 5x higher carbon footprint than pork or chicken 🥩

If you combine these facts you start to understand how beef causes by far the emissions in the food system.

🤯 This stat changed my perspective of Earth: chickens weigh more than all elephants, bison, zebras, and all other wild land mammals *combined*.

And chickens are not even the heaviest group of farm animals we have...

Every minute, 23 football fields of forest are lost. Almost all of it is rainforest and the main cause is consumption of meat: beef as you can see in the infographic. And a large part of that 'soy and palm oil' block is also for meat because pretty much all deforestation soy is used as animal feed.

This is from @projectdrawdown.bsky.social, which calculated the 80 most effective solutions for climate change. We're inspired by the fact that some very human solutions can save a lot more CO2 than technology.
