Okay, this isn't a live-service game.

It's a small, $15 regular 5v5 multiplayer game. The only DLC is a $5 'supporter pack' that gives every character one more skin and the soundtrack.

It's exactly what people have been demanding because they HATE live-service games. And then gets punished as one!

This one really, *really* isn't like Overwatch though.

I'm lowkey hoping more people get on Last Flag it's being slept on really hard. Live service but with a 15 dollar up front and such a minimal grind associated. It just feels really free and casual to play, like old Garden Warfare games.

I appreciate the feeling modern Metroid provides of that same "spam missiles" window but being pried open by your own action. Really lends to the catharsis I'm almost certain they were shooting for, while also just being more varied and creating a sense of personality for the bosses.

There was a similar bug with some fight in Paper Mario's chapter 4 as well. I want to say it was lantern ghost? If I had a nickel for each time a game breaking crash that wiped your save was found within the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pass retro games, I'd have two nickels!

The fact that this console just works better than the Switch 1 that I already quite enjoyed means the world. Indie games will be much less common on my PC from now on, the Switch 2 is actually too good for that job.

What I think people don't get is that said quiet sadness only really emerges for about 5%-10% of the gameplay. Totally worth talking about and appreciating too! It's just blindly making fun of the premise because you know it's a colorful wahoo fest for a good 90% of its runtime is so reductive.
