They don’t need to. They’ve figured how to win with a solid concentrated base and a propagandized general populace. It doesn’t hurt that they have a completely ineffectual and impotent opposition that can’t even identify the problem.

Adler was nice on the other site calmly explaining in detail why his argument that this shadow docket stuff is about partisanship not law & power. A 2014 abortion shadow ruling is totally comparable to the current docket practice.

Blackman wants to be on the Court. Adler just wants to be one of the elder statesmen law sages of the party.

He’s the type of conservative that would be fine with what Trump is doing, if only he did it more old fashioned like, not being so brownshirt about it.

Adler doesn’t think he’ll be on the court. He just can’t accept that the court’s conservatives have stopped pretending to adhere to neutral principles of law.

I thought it was incredibly disingenuous to use an example from 2014 where the court makeup was wildly different, nearly half the court members have changed, and the leaning esp on abortion has gone from 3-2-4 to 6-3.

Yeah Adler gave up the pretense on the shadow docket awhile ago. It’s why he stopped having the reply debates with @stevevladeck.bsky.social, he couldn’t maintain the honesty or objectivity.

I think he just wanted something that was contrarian and against the standard perception of Unplugged and MTV at that time. Which would match everything else about that performance for them. Literally nothing they did was in keeping with the normal format of MTV Unplugged as it was then.
