This is great! US states should do the same. About 1 in 8 US households heat with propane or heating oil. This was already more expensive than heating with gas or an electric heat pump, but heating oil and propane prices have also increased sharply (>30%) since Trump started his Iran war.

Revealed: Scientists tell Colombia fossil-fuel transition summit to ‘halt new expansion’ - Carbon Brief Around 50 nations will gather in Colombia to debate ways to “transition away” from fossil fuels, in the face of worsening climate change and high oil prices

I’m fired up and ready to go to Colombia for the first-ever multinational dialogue on how to rapidly phase out fossil fuels.

Ending fossil fuels will create a new beginning for health, security, prosperity, and peace.

Climate Change Concern Near Its High Point in U.S. The 44% of U.S. adults who currently worry "a great deal" about climate change or global warming is near its 46% high point from 2020.

US elites decided, like a school of fish, that climate concern is old, boring, "woke," square, not hip & popular any more. As usual, it was based almost entirely on internal elite dynamics. It had nothing to do with the actual public, which is more concerned than ever.

Fossil fuels can be thought of as a convenience for Big Oil CEOs and lobbyists. Still, given that they are a (if not THE) leading preventable cause of premature death and ill-health, I'd call them a significant inconvenience for the rest of us.

In a first, renewables beat natural gas on US grid last month It’s just one month, but it’s a sign of where the U.S. is headed as renewable energy — namely solar — surges onto the grid.

History was just made! 🔋 For the first time ever, renewables outpaced natural gas on the US grid for an entire month. The future we’re building for our kids is getting cleaner every single day. Let’s keep this momentum! #CleanEnergy #ClimateHope #RenewableUSA

The future is already here, although it's not evenly distributed.

If you want to see the future more clearly, take a gander at this declaration for a fossil fuel-free Pacific, signed last week by officials from six Pacific island nations.

Column: Virginia should consider health effects of data center growth Virginia should consider the full picture — including health effects — when making decisions about data centers, GMU researchers Neha Gour, Luis Ortiz and Edward Maibach write.

Communities are becoming more reluctant to host data centers, sometimes citing health concerns. There isn't yet much direct evidence of health harms, but there is lots of indirect evidence to support the concern. Learn about it here.

Colombia convenes climate ‘coalition of the willing’ to break global fossil fuel deadlock Santa Marta conference born out of frustration at Cop summits, where renewable progress has been stalled by major polluters

I’m delighted to be playing a role in this conference, as co-chair of the Health Benefits (of fossil fuel phase-out) advisory group. Our advice to the governments is quite simple. First, factor the health harms and health care costs of fossil fuels into your energy policy decisions, because…

At Least 88 Profitable U.S. Corporations Paid Zero Federal Income Tax in 2025 At least 88 of the largest corporations in America paid $0 in federal income tax for 2025. Corporate tax avoidance has increased at least in part due to President Trump's “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

"At least 88 of the largest corporations in America paid no federal corporate income taxes in their most recent fiscal year despite enjoying substantial pretax profits in the U.S."

Cool. Cool cool cool.

Gas tax breaks are bandaids at best. Real solution is to help low & middle-income Cdns get off fossil fuels. Invest in solar, heat pumps, batteries, EVs. Tackle barriers, offer real incentives & fund w/ windfall tax on Big Oil (who are laughing all the way to the bank). Cleaner, cheaper, healthier.

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.

They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.

That energy is all around us.

And it does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
