Still looking for an interested survey maker. Makes a better @britishacademy.bsky.social small grant application when the self-employed is named and contributes to the methodology set-up. And has a CV. #MCRHumNetwork
Do you feel the same way?

The photo shows a close-up of the hull construction of the Medieval Cog found at Lootsi street 8, Tallinn. The lower planks are flush, while the higher strakes are clinker, all oak. There are battens inboard, at the join of the flush-laid planks. The iron nails that join the clinker planks can be identified as iron oxide encrustations on the outer hull. One of the frames and two ceiling planks can also be seen. A fall of snow has settled on the timbers. It was a very cold day when we did the sampling.
it's open access.

Thanks Kristina, Alar, Priit & Lisette for inviting me to play with this super ship with its lovely oak timbers.

So it turns out that Iran is already collecting tolls of up to $2million to let ships transit the Straits of Hormuz. And those ships are paying in Chinese currency, to escape any US sanctions.
So, so much winning by Trump.

You know the best way to kill AI? Don't use it. Don't buy it. Don't share it. Don't give the people who use it your labour or your money.

entirely possible, except this instance will have a much longer tail because we’re creating new enemies by the minute and the potential consequences of the whole world fucking hating us continue to grow considerably more terrifying.
Ah go on!

Ouch!
Over 20 people injured by the massive Russian attack on Ukraine last night. Thousands of people without electricity.
Every time I type up these long lists of injuries, deaths, losses, destruction, damages, I think how little they convey the reality of the Russian attacks.

If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

Rubio just made a speech to the European defense community in Munich that did not mention Ukraine. Or democracy. Or US business deals with Russia. Or the administration's plans to support the European far right. But there were lots of nice words about our common civilization.
