Let us be clear: We have a First Amendment right to record federal agents working in public.

We’re on strike today! Support our fight for a fair contract by NOT visiting the @propublica.org website or engaging with ProPublica stories today.

WE ARE ON STRIKE TODAY! As someone who regularly looks at ProPublica web traffic, today's the only day of my career I want to see low numbers. We know our readers support our union. Don't read us today. We'll be there tomorrow.
During the anti-ICE school walkouts in January, a group of students in Chandler were targeted by an armed agitator. Turns out it was Phoenix PD Sergeant Dusten Mullen. He admitted his plan was to try to get purposely assaulted so the teenager protesters would all get arrested (it didn’t work).
The ACLU has quickly filed a federal lawsuit challenging Florida Republicans’ new voter suppression law.

BREAKING: We're challenging a new Florida law that requires voters to have "evidence of citizenship on file," such as a birth certificate or passport, to register to vote.
Unnecessary and burdensome laws like these make it harder for people to participate in our democracy.
BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis just signed Florida’s new anti-voter law, HB 991. This “show your papers” law adds unnecessary barriers to voting, so @aclu.org and @aclufl.bsky.social are suing.
In America, voters choose our leaders — politicians don’t get to choose who votes.
We’ll see you in court.
Black graphic with text "KNOW YOUR PROTEST RIGHTS You don’t need a permit to protest in response to breaking news and you don’t need a permit to march in the streets or along sidewalks, as long as you’re not obstructing traffic or access to buildings. When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and the police. If you believe your rights have been violated, when you can, write down everything you remember, get contact information for witnesses, and take photographs of any injuries. If you get stopped by the police, ask if you’re free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away. If you get arrested, you have a right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Don’t sign, say or agree to anything without a lawyer present. If you get stopped by a member of the military or any law enforcement office at a protest, you have the right to remain silent or to tell them that you’ll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney — no matter your citizenship or immigration status."

We're taking to the streets from coast to coast to resist the Trump administration's abuses of power.
BREAKING: Today, a federal court ruled in favor of justice.
ICE is now required to provide detained individuals at the Florida facility, cruelly nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” with access to legal counsel.
People across the nation are taking to the streets on March 28 to peacefully protest the Trump administration’s abuse of power.

Glades County Detention Center has a sordid history -- built for profit, relying on revenue bonds -- bonds backed by expected profits

The politicians and activists pushing these attacks are part of a well-funded and coordinated nationwide effort to remove trans people from public life.
We can fight for the future our families deserve. Resist these attempts to push people into the shadows based on who they are or who they love.
Update: Dolores Huerta has released a statement. In it, she confirms the Times's reporting, and supports the other women who have come forward. "I have kept this secret long enough. My silence ends here."
The Cesar Chavez story discussed yesterday is out, in the New York Times. Two women say that he sexually assaulted them as children, beginning when they were 12 and 13. And Dolores Huerta says he raped her in 1966.
None taken! Got a lot more replies than I’m used to so trying to wade through them lol
I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and work for the ACLU here. Trust me, I know full well this is a political calculation and an attempt to pivot. And also, I don’t really care. I just want to stop the bleeding in my home.
I’m well aware! I’m under no West Wing delusions. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life and civil rights advocacy is my day job, so I’m very familiar with Judd and the things he usually says. It’s still a shocker as far as messengers go, and a very big deal that even he is trying to pivot.
Screw it, I’m into it. Full tank mode. I want three 5’5” receivers. Give me 15 picks in the draft. Malik Willis can share his takes on the Iran War while the Liberty University band plays at halftime if it means they actually do a full rebuild and do it right
here in the heart of darkness (florida) the moral arc's bending toward earth again
Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s likely a political calculation. I don’t care too much what the reason is though, I just want the bleeding to stop.
Grady Judd saying these words is actually ACTUALLY shocking
Anyone who knows Grady Judd just sprained the muscles that raise their eyebrows
Already seen a few comments on Facebook and Twitter calling him a lib. Which is objectively hilarious if you’ve seen literally any quote from him over the years.
