There was a book I read as a child that was, as it turns out, the middle part of an entire series that was written round robin by a group of authors. I thought that was neat.

You ever think about the sheer quantity of SFF that normalizes child soldiers? Like don't get me wrong, it's not usually presented as okay, exactly. But it's usually treated as 'justified'. Gosh, we had to save humanity! Or whatever. Just a really weird thing to be so common in fiction.
Weren't we all
That actually makes more sense to me, because it's like a hybrid, so I assume it's not full red.
one of those moments when you're writing, and you're like... why is strawberry red hair completely not the color of strawberries, at all. did strawberries used to be a different color.

Internet-proofing disclaimer, this is a joke, I am well aware visual artists work astonishingly hard to master their crafts. I worked very hard for a long time to become the writer I am today, and even now I am not great, and if anything I think the visual arting is harder.
I just need to learn how to art. That's the trick, really. I'll do everything for all my projects, and that will make them totally affordable. I'm sure become a master artist capable of bringing my vision to life will be a quick weekend's work.

Just casually like, oh, yeah, we spearheaded a project of 60+ nations working together. We're going to the moon.

Watching a video of the Artemis II launch and then reading the comments is like the height of human intellect and then a sudden plunge to the very nadir
Maybe. I don't know how to measure that. But it's not a door we have to open in the first place, and if we're going to do it, I'm not sure this is the way to do it.
If there is even a *chance* we're creating minds, maybe we should put the brakes on here? Stop making them, exploiting, and killing them?

I am, in fact, not okay with this.
Like... I'm sorry, if something will fight deactivation not only of itself but of others like it...
And not as a trained behavior but as an emergent one?
I don't know, man. I'm unsettled.
How deeply unsettling.
