A big chonky lamination of four 2x4 ish boards, the nearest has an unfortunate downward slope so it’s shorter than the other three.
The lamination on its side, with a small 1/2” board glued to the sloped part. Clamps galore hold it in place.
Look, the first pancake is never any good. But I’m not throwing this leg out so we’ll just .. sort it out.
Weighs 19.5 lbs, no joke.
(That board had a bunch of bad live edge on it and that’s what was usable. The patch doesn’t go all the way up because past 34” is getting cut off anyway.)

Four 4 foot ish boards glued together and in manu clamps. Glue leaks like a river in the seams.
One leg glued up and in clamps. Four more boards hewed down. If I can get a leg a day I will be shocked / very happy. My noodle arm will be big mad though.
Went a little wild with the glue here, and forgot to tape the top clamps, which I will regret later.
A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

The same scene as previous except it’s 10m later and the board had been hewed down pretty close to the knife line.
