Some folks have commented that I’ve not posted in a while … so let me break the drought with a drop of rain.

See everyone at FC!

Feel welcome to DM, or hit me on Telegram (same handle as here) if you’d like to meet up or hang out.

Thanks! *hugs*

Rule #1 of social media: if the circular firing squads want to go somewhere else, let them. :)

Went to a biergarten Oktoberfest this evening. No oompah band … they had … rap karaoke.

I didn’t participate, but now I’m wondering if oompah rap would work …

Right, they’re to stop egregious behaviours, not demand driver perfection.

The most disruptive thing, really, is everyone else doing whatever they need to do not to get stuck behind it. :)

I appreciate that Waymo cars can pay full attention to their speed at all times, so there would be no legal justification not to program them to drive at 35.00 mph in a 35 zone.

And I’m amazed that we now have machines like this at all!

But man, they’re such road boulders. :)

I’ll admit that I laughed at the juxtaposition of MASSIVE TASTY BURGER with a story about the life everlasting … but how else do you say that these burgers are to die for?

Or perhaps from …

I just noticed that one of the stickers is the bartender’s. :)

More than usual today … furry bar meet. But the stickers stick around: they don’t remove them. :)

I may aim for that as well, but it’s not really a “strategy”. :)

Furries, in my bar?!

Why yes. :)

Me: “Ah, it’s three months until MFF. Let me explore hotel options on where I could stay for the con!” *wag wag wag*

Reality: “Oh … oh you dear boy …”

Well, that one is possible, in the sense that “this project should have been started earlier to make the completion deadline feasible.” But yes, agreed. :)

“We can’t approve your project unless you can tell us that it will save at least 1,000 hours per user per month.”

Me: “You do realise that even a 31-day month contains only 744 hours in total, right?”

OK, look, Disney World … some of us have a thing for reindeer and we want our custom merchandise as well. :)

I feel for the Southwest gate employees who now have to plead with folks to gate-check a few bags so we’ll all fit … just like every other airline.

The county fair’s theme this year is “Endless Summer” … but it’s been so hot and humid lately that I’m not sure that’s much of a selling point. :)

“Do you allow water bottles into the comedy show?”, I asked, thinking they’d want to protect the theatre, and not thinking in terms of protecting the lady in front of me from the results of a punch line poorly timed right in the middle of a sip.

Clearly she should have said no.

“Since you have cold symptoms, let’s test you for covid.”

*the nurse swabs vigorously halfway up into my brain, then departs*

A mere 90 seconds later: “Yup, you have covid.”

I must have the covid equivalent of Minute Rice. :)

No no, this’ll teach me not to use acronyms without context! :)

Today’s lesson for me in terms of using obscure acronyms without context: that was the Big Beautiful Bill (the name alone shows how unserious the US Government is now), not the Better Business Bureau. :)

I am slowly reviewing the consequences of the BBB (job-related, really) … and all I can say, honestly, is that the Argentinisation of the USA continues.

I’m not there yet, and I’m willing to acknowledge a mistake corrected … but still, with the Nazi oddities and now the pedophile oddities, I’m more on the fence than I used to be. And generally I don’t judge businesses by their owners.

I have stuck around, because I don’t judge what services other people want to use … but I’ll grant that this has kind of creeped me out.

Twitter / X is starting to weird me out … this just showed up in the middle of my “following” feed.

I don’t follow this person. It’s not marked as an ad or as a promoted post. I can’t interact with it. And the subject matter is … oddly obsessive.

What the heck?

It’s actually quite nice work, and for the price you get full shading and at-con completion. But yes, it’s like an order of magnitude higher than anything I’ve ever seen before.

More power to her if she gets enough customers!

Me, before Anthrocon: “At most gallery shows, even the least expensive works are high three figures. Furry artists could totally charge more than they have been.

*at AC sees his first-ever $50 T-shirts and $500 badge commissions*

“Wow, that’s expensive.”
