If you've grown moringa from seed, please provide tips here! I'm at the seedling stage now and starting to sweat. #gardening #novicegardener #gardentips

I don't know what I did to deserve the support I get from Black elders in the education and environmental spaces, but I am forever grateful for every call and message received. Ima keep tending my little piece of the garden no matter what 🥹😭

A Nelson’s Sparrow perched upright among tall green and brown grass stems, lit by soft golden morning light. The bird’s buffy face, streaked breast, and small bill are clearly visible as it stands alert amid the autumn vegetation.

A Nelson’s Sparrow seen from behind at the edge of a muddy shoreline. The bird’s warm brown and olive back shows bold streaking as it holds a small insect in its bill, with water rippling beside it.

Just a couple of Nelson’s Sparrows being ridiculously cute 😍 Fall migration never disappoints! 📷👐🏾🫶🏾🪶

The words we use to talk about nature are disappearing. Here’s why that matters. We’ll need to do more than ‘touch grass’ to revive them.

If I do nothing else in this life, I will write stories about how my people connect to nature. I will gather with our plant, animal, and elemental cousins as often as I can. I will uplift all of our names. We are children of the Earth, and we will never be destroyed. grist.org/language/nat...

TFW you're still online at your desk at 1:30am & your wife, who went to bed hours ago, appears naked in the doorway, intoning dolefully:
"I am the ghost of common sense"
before vanishing into the night

Ummm 56 minutes on the stairmaster is a flex. I am both jealous and thankful we haven't seen a haboob this dramatic in Tucson this year.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

If you ever wonder where I am or why I'm not online much it is because if I move even an inch, my cat gives me one airplane ear to let me know to stop it immediately as I am his naptime support wall.
