Even if that’s true (insert derisive snort) I know she noticed it at some point in the five or six hours it took to drive. She couldn’t pull over to let me know ahead of time?!? I’ve been putting off starting projects for three hours expecting to hear at any moment that she’s here

In other frustrations, a friend driving down from up north to see her family an hour south of me and was supposed to stop by on her way. She just messaged to say she’s already at her aunt’s, she “accidentally” got on the 5 instead of 101. 🙄

I’m still pissed off about this. I planned my whole week around it! I’m in the middle of repairing the drip system and now I have to water by hand like a medieval peasant! I was going to roast veggies and make soup and now it’s sunny and warm!

For the past week I’ve been seeing forecasts for a half inch of rain at 90-95% probability for today.

It is not raining. The forecast has been updated now to show 80% chance of .01”

Good news everyone! I found my headphones in the pocket of the pants that had been worn once but weren’t really dirty. I am basically unable to work without my headphones and the nice people telling me stories so this is timely indeed

When I went on the Hearst Castle tour they made a big deal about the fact that it was one of the first private homes to have a shower vs bath

I think part of the answer here is that showers are also new! People took baths, most people in wooden or tin tubs where the danger of something breaking was much lower (because closer to the ground and also tubs weren’t ceramic except for rich people)

This used to happen to me on my iPhone until I dug around in the forums for a fix. In that case the phone wasn’t recognizing the newly empty space as available and the fix was to try to download something way too big to force the software to recalculate the space available. Maybe a similar thing?

This is reminding me of when I went on vacation with my mom and she bought some of those (instead the liquid she used at home) and after it ran I found the still wrapped undissolved cube of soap in the dispenser

I really feel that “intelligence” is a collective term that we should stop using. It’s used in reference to a bunch of different skills like recall, information synthesis, creativity, etc. which we should consider separately!
