Portrayal by Artemisia Gentileschi.

Maddalena Casulana (1544โ€“1590) was an Italian composer, lutenist, and singer. In Venice, her book of madrigals for four voices, "Il primo libro di madrigali", was the first printed and published work by a woman in Western music history. #CelebratingWomen

I understood everything in the abstract all the way down to "yielding a simple grammar" and then I guess it just became too simple for me to understand ๐Ÿ˜‰

Having an unexpected WFH day today, thanks to this. It was stationary even before the L5395 (Ballynamona), so I turned around and came home. I feel sorry for the commuters who have to show up in their workplace so they have no choice but to stick it out, and they'll have the same coming home.

Gaumont's 1912 Chronochrome color process. Unlike most other early natural color experiments, Chronochrome was three colors (good old Red Green Blue RGB) AND it was commercially released.

The film was black and white, filters provided the color and it was finicky as hell so it didn't catch on.

Everyone, no matter where they come from, deserves to live with dignity and freedom. I've just signed the open letter, calling on Jim O'Callaghan to stand up for a fair immigration process that keeps people safe and keeps our families and communities whole. Will you add your name?

I have an 18thC map of Cork that shows rivers where several of our streets now lie, and TBH, this sounds like it would be lovely!

Yes, I know what date it is. . . ๐Ÿ˜œ

My first lapse was quickly followed by a panicked return to the fold. I read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail at around 14, believed every word of it, then convinced myself I was going to hell for it. ๐Ÿ˜„ Now I'd read it with a red pen and gouge out the pages writing "SOURCE?!" every few sentences ๐Ÿ˜‚

A large stuffed folder of files with the title โ€œEpsteinโ€ is seen with what looks, at first glance, like a red page marker sticking out of the bottom. On closer inspection it is the bottom of a Trump red neck tie. French newspapers once again showing the kind of basic journalistic integrity lacking from most US national newspapers - whose collective negligence has helped ensure a man implicated in the worldโ€™s most notorious sex trafficking ring gets to remain President. That the orange pedo felon remains in office is a plague on all their houses. Cunts, one and all.

The cartoon that appeared this week on the front page of Franceโ€™s most influential national newspaper, Le Monde

Brilliant work by the cartoonist, Guffo.

It's official, picking up litter is actually good for your mental health. If that wasn't enough, every piece of plastic removed is no longer a danger to our marine life.

When you take some time to pick up litter, you are saying, 'this place matters, and I'm a part of it'.

My story yesterday; the Irish Times and I broke this now-international story and I am hoping he'll have some resolution and that this case will draw ever more scrutiny to the horrific conditions and circumstances in which so many detainees are held.

Good morning. The President of the United States was in the middle of the most serious child sex trafficking ring of the last quarter century.

He is referenced not a dozen times in the case files. Not 100 times. Not 1,000 times. Heโ€™s referenced 38,000 times.
