I looked that up in the shop at the weekend (I’ve started reading King for the first time) and IMMEDIATELY panicked it was 1200 pages! You’d recommend it?

All Nowhere Men: Collective Grief, Social Death, and the AIDS Metaphor in Daredevil #249 By Holly Raymond 1987 saw the formation of one of the most radical and tenacious blocs of AIDS activism, the New York City-based ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power). Incensed and frustrated by…

“He stole the music out of a life,” Wolverine laments on the opening page, cradling the mutant composer Gerhart’s broken violin and looking over a wash of dramatically framed, blood-stained sheafs of compositions. “He’s killing our geniuses.”

The cover for Strontium Dogs volume two

The cover for Strontium Dogs volume two

Johnny Alpha and Wulf are dead, Feral is a fugitive, the Strontium Dogs are over, and… et, wait… why does The Gronk have a gun?

We’re entering a weird era in Strontium Dogs Vol 2, by Garth Ennis, Peter Hogan, Steve Pugh, and Nigel Dobbyn

I need to read more to be helpful with this! My first instinct honestly was “is that the initial premise of DR & Quinch”?

This volume adds more to the picture of Finn shown across the spines.

Huh… Finn, you say…

This was Ennis’ final work for 2000 AD in his early years, as he went off to go do Preacher instead. Probably a wise move. Peter Hogan takes over for the final story here, and will be in charge for volume three, I think.

But for now - onto the shelf it goes!

A group of kids tell Gronk that Johnny is dead, prompting the poor little alien to faint immediately, because he has a weak heart and can’t take the strain

Anyway, let’s put a pin in Feral for now. With his friends dead, what happened to Gronk, the cuddly anxious critter who used to hang out with Johnny and Wulf??

We finally catch up to him… and in turn he finally hears what happened to his friends, and his poor little heart can’t take the stress

His new ally tells us her backstory. Her husband was shocked when she gave birth to a mutant, and shot the baby. Now she’s going for payback

This story is a bunch of various character worrying about being caught, worrying that they are monsters, just generally worrying. Weird that this is Garth Ennis, really. There’s nothing wrong with it - it’s better than the typical X-Men comic of course - but it isn’t as dynamic as you’d expect

Feral hides, and calls himself a “monster” in his narration

First things first! Feral is still a fugitive, and he’s still got a bunch of issues about himself, and what can only be described as an “x-men level” of mutant angst.

Whiny kid. Great visual though
