Afternoon dog walk o’clock in Jasper.

It’s school trip season and some families right now, but I’m guessing it will get a bit busier in the summer.

Both the Raven and Fiddle River have tasty looking menus but the problem is if they’re not open to changes, there’s nothing I can eat. This is why we often end up not going to fancy restaurants on holiday.

Not looking like much Jenny friendly food at either, Raven slightly better but only if they’re open to changes.

Some rebuilding of what looks like a condo or hotel, some housing, the burned down gas station, and I think much slower on the rest of the housing, govt dragging their ass on helping to fund it. Temp housing set up too.

Thanks, we’ll check them out! We did take out last night but may go out for dinner tonight.

None of them have called me a fucking bitch and vaped in my face, so it’s hard to tell :)

Haven’t seen any Eastglen teens yet (the school a block from my library branch) but they probably called these schools to let them know I’d be here.

Apparently there’s high schools from around the world in Jasper this week. The universe is really out there telling me I can never get away from teens, even when I take vacation days.

Local woman wakes up, sends a busload of elk, alligators, bears, bison and other angry animals singing Rage Against the Machine songs to the White House to tell Trump to leave national parks and forests the fuck alone, makes oatmeal.

It’s fine, the universe is just telling me I can never get away from teens, even when I take vacation days.

I don’t have an insiders view but it looks to be doing alright, rebuilding of some things, lots of temporary housing and I’m sure that’s not going as quickly as it should. Still a bit spooky to see all the burned trees but it’s busy and that’s probably a good thing.

After a night at the wonderfully empty hotel in Sun peaks, the universe is balancing itself out as we’re surrounded by small children and teen school groups in Jasper. Less delightful but there is still sun and mountains.

‪Dinner didn’t fuck up my guts any more than normal so I can confirm it was the best gluten free fish and chips I’ve tried. ‬

Lemonade bakery in Vancouver, we stopped there on the way out of town. I haven’t even attempted making gf pastry myself.

It’ll take some readjustment but should be fine (also I have no idea if it’s even called a mountain zamboni :)

Nice! We left yesterday so will miss that. Next up is a couple nights in jasper and then home.

Local woman wakes up, brings a mountain zamboni back to Edmonton for winter shenanigans, has gluten free croissant, yogurt and blueberries.

That makes sense to me, and yet the other GF fish I’ve had has just been ok, while this one last night was spectacular - golden brown and crispy, not falling apart, fish chonky and perfectly cooked.

Fancy!

It’s a lovely spot.

‪And for dessert, a ginger cookie from Lemonade gluten free bakery bought today on our way out of Vancouver. It’s chewy, spicy, buttery and so delicious. ‬
