The planets are throwing a surprise B-Earthday Party! ππ§ͺ
I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"
Itβs such a crazy coincidence how the people in Hollywood advocating for use of AI are the ones who already have enough resources to exploit it for personal financial gain

the internet cracked the world open for me when I was growing up, access and information on an unimaginable level truly changed my life. Now every new thing seems to be designed to make us lesser, poorer, endless extraction and no enrichment
The shared excitement over NASAβs recent mission compared to the general indifference to SpaceX missions speaks to the power of something seen as the product of communal human effort rather than just the ego and avarice of one obnoxious dork.

Hundreds of millions of people live close enough to data centres used to power AI to feel warmer average temperatures in their local area
the sad pablo meme template showing a person with a melancholy ponder. The text box reads "when an astronomer has to consider magnetic fields"

Before I became an American, I was Lebanese. Parts of my family live in Lebanon.
Anyway, you don't need those bona fides to feel this way, but what is happening in Lebanon right now is a complete outrage. The people there, who mostly are just trying to carve out a living, don't deserve this.
You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
Let me say this plainly: Iranian children have as much of a right to live and thrive as American children.
Their babies MUST be as precious to me as my 6 niblings and my baby grandnib are IF I want them to have a future.
If I want a future for my kin AND humanity, I MUST act like it.
So must you.
i like this plot so much I made it a bread π§ͺπ
Well do I have the video for you!

A whiteboard with a graph, the x axis is temperature, the y axis is luminosity. Almost 100 color coordinated paper stars map out the Main Sequence and other features of the HR diagram.
Favorite class of the year is when each student plots a handful of the closest stars and a handful of the brightest stars. You don't fill out the HR diagram unless you draw from both ππ§ͺ
Is there an opportunity for others to leaves responses as well? i know the first round of public comment ended a few weeks ago.
me listening to an old playlist of good songs:
"this is a good song!"
"nobody is doing anything" remains a lie meant to soothe the person saying the words. It's not true. YOU may not be doing anything but a lot of people are.
