I’m so sorry for your loss. This poem has always meant a lot to me, it was one my grandmother shared with me (alongside a lifetime of deep love and care for dogs): Robinson Jeffers’ “The House Dog’s Grave” www.poetbay.com/viewText.php...

Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.

Arthur Symons, 1892, a relatively obscure poet and literary critic of the fin de siecle. Poems that really anticipated the imagism of the modernists. And my undergrad advisor warned me over twenty years ago no one would ever take interest in my obsession with him! Haha showed him :)

If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice

Henrietta Lacks is the reason we dont get polio anymore.

Henrietta Lacks is the reason in-vitro works

Henrietta Lacks is the reason there's an HPV vaccine, gene mapping, we know how cancer cells divide, AIDs is no longer a death sentence.

Henrietta Lacks cells were stolen from her

"Video footage can create unnecessary clarity. Clarity increases urgency. Urgency creates action. Action creates policy. Policy creates oversight. Oversight creates paperwork. Paperwork creates consequences. We hope you can understand why we must avoid this chain of events."

This family deserves the truth and justice.

On a downtown street in Minneapolis, as people stream out from the massive march, Mary Tyler Moore says “fuck ice.”

semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

While Amazon is investing billions of dollars to expand AI, independent bookstores are hosting community events, personally recommending books to readers, and providing a space that is safe and welcoming during a time when we need them most.

Never underestimate the power of a local bookstore.

Neither of us remember the couples’ names but STILL. It’s Wally the corgi, how do you not know?

I’ve never doubted my marriage until tonight. My husband asked if I knew the couple with the corgi that lived down the street and I said, “do you mean Wally?” And he admitted he didn’t know the corgi’s name. The corgi who has lived on our street for two years who has a heart and a soul and a song.

Dawson’s Creek S1:E5: time for Chekhov’s gun err shoebox diorama! When messy Gale tells Mitch about her affair with her coworker Mitch sends his scale model of his Oceanic Hooters restaurant idea flying and it breaks apart, just like their marriage is. The heightened drama of this ep had me 🤣🤣🤣

Dawson’s Creek S1:E4 Gale Leery is MESSY. Affair kisses outside a dressing room. Affair kisses at work. Dawson has a hollowed out book. Pacey’s virginity sex tape is inside. This could be Dawson’s incel origin story episode. Jen has “a past” 🙄 and Joey’s favorite drink is haterade.

Dawson’s Creek S1:E3
Hot off hearing his dad films sexual trysts, Dawson thinks “why not?” and tries to capture his and Jen’s first kiss w/o telling her. But manages to film Pacey’s first time… with his English teacher. The 90s were something! And that something was statutory rape my friends.

S1:2 2) He admits to using his son’s camcorder for a sex tape, and 3) he mentors his son on the kissing using a severed head prop meant to be Joey. All three acts are suspect but again, does Mitch think once his restaurant shoe box diorama is complete a bank will look at it and say here’s your $$$?

Dawson’s Creek S1:E2 There is a dance where things happen for the main teen characters, but we need to talk about Mitch Leery. In this episode, Dawson’s father: 1) keeps working on a scale model of his restaurant concept and everyone keeps actting like that’s how you plan a business??!!

On my bike ride into work this morning a hawk swept over me in the sky, landed on a lamppost, and then took a dump. I never realized I held assumptions about what hawk poop would look like, but this moment absolutely defied them. If this wasn’t the Kantian sublime, I don’t know what is.

S1:E1 Honorable Mention for a BANANAS Adult: Film Teacher Mr Gold, who is watching THE reveal scene in Psycho at like 8am on the first day of school. A plot device to show Dawson’s film knowledge? Maybe. A sign this teacher is burning out? Absolutely.
