Here’s a throwback to my most science-y job — working as a lab tech in aerospace engineering. And yep, every colleague and boss on that project was male… at least until I convinced them to hire one of my fantastic friends.

Seeing everyone share their stories and shout-outs to female mentors made me realize… I’ve only ever had male mentors in my career. They were all great/-ish, but it does make me wonder if I’ve missed out on something.

Throughout the book but mostly the end, yes. Project Hail Mary is one of the best books I ever read. Can highly recommend, especially for nerds

I know there are many researchers who can, but it is not taught at University and it takes a lot of time and good feedback to improve that skill. And I wasn't talking about a 5 minute narrative. I was talking about 400+ pages books.

Same. I was a Diamond fan as an undergrad, but mainly because I really liked his writing style. It was so different from the often boring and painful to read research papers and books that were on the syllabus

The main problem is that Harari, Diamond, etc. are good writers and they manage to create engaging stories in accessible ways. We really need to learn that skill

Spent two great days in Berlin at the interdisciplinary Baja Workshop "Who is who in Antiquity?". Learnt a lot about Egyptology, Literary analysis and Philosophy and gave my first talk on Fatherhood in Antiquity.
