If you want to see what true community looks like, look to Hawaiians. 💕

If you’re looking for what you can do to help, stormkokua.com is a great place to offer support from afar. (Please DON’T self-deploy to affected regions like the O’ahu north shore.)

Image showing Mayor Mamdani looking frustrated, with a text overlaid that reads “NYC Public Library Action Network” at the top, and in large bold letters text that reads “Mayor Mamdani did not honor his commitment to allocate 0.5% of the city expense budget to NYC public libraries in his preliminary budget” and then in smaller font below, there is text that reads “visit NYCPLAN.ORG for more information”

While a candidate, @mayor.nyc.gov pledged to commit 0.5% of the city’s budget to public libraries.

Unfortunately, Mayor Mamdani has broken this promise in his preliminary FY27 budget, released yesterday, where he allocated 0.39% to libraries.

This amount is well below the promised 0.5%

This was exactly my fear, I just didn't know how to articulate it. Exactly this.

You can meticulously describe a mess, but it’s still a mess.

New York Times Magazine article with the headline "Coding After Coders: The End of Computer Programming as We Know It" and sub-heading "In the era of A.I. agents, many Silicon Valley programmers are now barely programming. Instead, what they're doing is deeply, deeply weird." I have selected and highlighted that last "deeply, deeply weird" sentence.

and they didn't even get to "Ralph Wiggum"

AFAIK this is a logical paradox with no solution.

I don’t know if I’m ADHD, all I know is, ear buds are undefeated against me.

“I want my ear buds but they’re dead. I’ll charge them later, can’t use them now anyway.”

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

Interesting counter-perspective. Still digesting…

Very interesting proposal! First blush reactions:

- building on symbols and prototypes feels very thoughtful, the right primitives for safe independent extension and “going with the grain of JS”
- not sure I agree that the sugar needed is for creating getters for *all* methods of a protocol

Too bad there's no opposition party that could run a 48 hour Youtube telethon program with 48 elected officials each programming one hour to point out the awfulness of the war on Iran. That would definitely not get any media or other attention.

She’s a serious candidate; at this point I think most people dismissing her seriousness are at least partially motivated by misogyny; and this is a clearer articulation of a progressive foreign policy than I’ve seen anyone else running for office make

Email from (REDACTED) to dutytaxdisputes@fedex.com, dated 1:50pm today, with the text:

Hello,

I recently received, and paid FedEx in full, statements for the following duties due to the US tariffs that were struck down on February 20th by the Supreme Court as unconstitutional:

- Invoice REDACTED (confirmation REDACTED): $52.20
- Invoice REDACTED (confirmation REDACTED): $13.35

Since these duties were illegally imposed, I should not have been required to pay them and expect my money to be fully refunded. I am flexible about the manner of repayment; a physical check or a refund to my credit card are both acceptable.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter,

David Herman

Don’t really need the money but I can spare 10 minutes of my weekend to be petty to a bigco that might or might not fight for a government refund, and probably would pocket it anyway.
