I think they always wanted to walk the line of plausibility and have a rational, scientific explanations for the various phenomenon they witnessed (at least in the initial seasons). But yeah once they jumped that line with aliens and future tech, shrinking wouldn't have been *that* far-fetched imho.

Yes! Ever since my first BASIC program on my C64 I knew programming was what I wanted to do. There's beauty in giving life to a mathematical idea. Writing a simple realtime raytracer, transforming light vectors bouncing around in a virtual scene into shaded pixels on screen brought me so much joy.
