That immediately earned a dozen of scoffs and room dissolved into banter. Donnie let out a breath he was holding.

He finds Leo's gaze again and hopes to convey his gratitude for resolving the tension through the eye contact alone.

Leo smiles back at him and squints his eyes in mirth.

"I mean, is anyone really surprised? We all know who has the best looks here," Leo drawls with a lazy smirk. He puts his chin on his palm and gestures on himself with his other hand, "even the resident asexual can't resist all of this."

"You put me in a hypothetical I will never be in," he scoffed raising his nose. "And I told you you won't like the answer."

Play offensive so they won't smell your fear of rejection. Nailed it.

Silence went from surprised to awkward. He assumed nobody present knew how to feel about this.

"Baby of the family..." Mikey grumbles to himself with hands crossed on his chest.

Leo still hasn't said anything and Donnie was too afraid to look in his direction again. The energy in the room starts grating on his nerves.

Silence.
Donnie couldn't decipher the emotion on Leo's face.

"Boy, you need more friends," April sighs in bewilderment. "Why you don't consider strangers again?"

"Because I don't trust them," he said like it was the most obvious thing in the wolrd. Because it was.

"Raph is too big," Donnie continues, "and Mikey will forever be a baby of the family to me," he ignores the indignant squawk of aforementioned baby.

"So by eliminating any other possibility we can conclude that the answer to the question at hand," he raises his head to meet Leo's eyes, "is you."

CJ stares back at him with blank face. April looks down where she counts remained people on her fingers of a single hand. Judging by the expressions of everyone around they suspected where this was going.

"They should match the sexuality and shouldn't be in a relationship, that would be nasty," Donnies muses. "Which exludes April, Sunita and Cassie. And preferably not be my own nephew- no offense," he casts a quick glance at CJ.

"Which leaves us with circa twenty people. They should be in my age range," he bends another, "And not be our enemy," Donnie clenches his fist.

"Fine," he concedes, "I will walk you through this thought experiment. We will use method of exclusion: If I absolutely have to pick, I won't do it with a stranger, so we can disregard the absolute majority of human and yokai population," Donnie bends one finger,

Donnie glances at everyone in the room again. He takes a breath.

"If you are scared that we will know about your embarrassing crushes on cartoons, news flash, we know about that already," Leo drones.

"First of all, they are not real people, which contradicts the question", Donnie clenches his jaw.
Leo shoots him a flat look, "And second of all?"

Donnie considers his lack of options. "You won't like it".

"That's what we are here for, baby," Mikey sing-songs.

Maybe walking out the door and leaving the state is a viable alternative.

"Pass"

"What!"

"You used your pass previlege already," Leo offers his unsolicited input.

"Raph just contributed the lamest truth in existence, don't do this to me," April whines.
Raph gives her an indignant look from the opposite couch. April sticks her tongue out.
