If we do not, resistance becomes compliance and fascism wins.
Liberation requires consistency and equal application, and we believe that equality is for everyone, including Palestinians. As artists and organizers living under the Trump regime, we must protect free speech in all its forms and stand up to systemic prejudice wherever we encounter it.
Their repudiation of a symbolic expression of solidarity exposes the uncomfortable truth that these organizations do not believe that all people are equally deserving of the human rights they purport to defend.
We believe in the mission of both organizations. However, we also believe that after 2 years of what hundreds of human rights groups have declared a genocide, Palestinian women and girls are in especially urgent need of the protections and advocacy these orgs advertise in their mission statements.
@reprorights.org asked us to remove all keffiyehs or not take the stage. We did not perform that night.
In the video above ⬆️, filmed in the street after leaving the Equality Now gala, we sang the song that their attendees never got to hear.
In the course of one week, two feminist organizations attempted to suppress The Resistance Revival Chorus’ support for Palestine at their fundraising galas. @equalitynow.bsky.social cut our set short because some members were wearing keffiyehs... (a thread 🧵)

"...that is neither fight nor flight but the careful, arduous pursuit of reconciliation and justice. It is about a revolution of love that is big enough to set both the oppressed and the oppressors free.” - Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals. #NoWarInIran #NoForeverWars
"But true peace does not exist until there is justice, restoration, forgiveness Peacemaking doesn’t mean passivity. It is the act of interrupting injustice without mirroring injustice, the act of disarming evil without destroying the evildoer, the act of finding a third way...
#NoMoreWars “Peace is not just about the absence of conflict; it’s also about the presence of justice. ... A counterfeit peace exists when people are pacified or distracted or so beat up and tired of fighting that all seems calm....

4) And while you usually can't tell the true effect of a protest until long after it's over, today's actions have already made a major impact where we most needed it right now: on people's morale. That in itself is a win.
3) A massive decentralized movement like this -- everywhere all at once, with everybody pitching in -- is extremely difficult for any regime, even the most autocratic, to derail. There are too many leaders, coordinating in too many different ways, for a movement like this to be easily neutralized.
