And there goes Messick's no-no bid.

The last Cleveland Guardians franchise no-hitter was 44 years, 11 months, 1 day ago, when the Indians' Len Barker tossed a perfect game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Cleveland Stadium. Parker Messick is three outs away from breaking that streak.
Did Jo Adell really have the greatest defensive game ever?
In a Weird & Wild special, I went off in search of that answer.

With that sixth-inning Harrison Bader walk issued by Nolan McLean, the New York Mets have now gone 10,141 games without a perfecto.

Thanks for the heads-up, Chuck!

24 down, 6 teams remain in contention as "Opening Day" moves into its third day.
And an infield hit takes the Astros off the board.
The Astros' Hunter Brown is holding the Angels hitless through 3 innings, but with 58 pitches already thrown he's unlikely to earn a solo attempt. Our Feller/Day watch stands with 19 teams out, 11 still in.
Eight teams are out of the mix.
We're back on Feller/Day watch, looking for another Opening Day no-hitter.

The SF Giants came within one out of a Cactus League perfecto and no-hitter yesterday. For the Giants' last Spring Training no-no, you have to go back to March 17, 1952, when the NY Giants' Jim Hearn (5) and Monty Kennedy (4) no-hit the Cubs at the Los Angeles version of Wrigley Field.
11 years ago today, Atlanta Braves starter Cody Martin tossed two innings of no-hit ball followed by one no-hit inning each by
Jim Johnson, Josh Outman, Brandon Cunniff, Ian Thomas, Mauricio Cabrera, Lucas Sims, Justin Jackson and Jairo Heredia for a 10-inning no-hitter against the Houston Astros.
The WBC has never had a 9-inning no-hitter. Shairon Martis of the Netherlands tossed a 7-inning no-no vs. Panama in 2006, and Puerto Rico's Jose De Leon, Yacksel Rios, Edwin Díaz and Duane Underwood Jr. were perfect vs. Israel over 8 innings in 2023.
Replacements 95
MLB’s only replacement-player no-hitter occurred 31 years ago today. On Monday, March 6, 1995, five Replacement Atlanta Braves no-hit the NY Replacemets for a 5-0 win in West Palm Beach: Jose Alvarez (3 inn.), Phil Harrison (2 inn.), Eric Mora (2 inn.), Keith Brown (1 inn.) and Daren Brown (1 inn.).
Here is our list of spring training no-hitters: www.nonohitters.com/spring-train... ... we've just added a new one: A 19th Century preseason no-no that was actually tossed in January by the NY Giants' George Van Haltren against the St.L. Browns in San Francisco.
I missed posting this on Bobby Shantz's 100th birthday on Friday, but here is the story I wrote for SABR on when the Philadelphia A's hurler tossed 9 innings of no-hit ball in relief:

Always fun chatting with @jaysonst.bsky.social about no-hitters — or in this case, the lack thereof in 2025. Check out his awesome column with plenty of great tidbits on the topic.
And there goes the no-no.
