🌱This was made possible by funding from the Government of Manitoba for the CSGC project, and MbEN staff (along with our volunteer team) had a great experience - it was an excellent way to kick off the start of the growing season.
🌱Participants learned from Master Gardener, Igor Kaftan, how to successfully grow plants from seed for transplanting to outdoor gardens. Afterwards, the group worked together to plant seedlings that will be grown at WBCO's office for donation and for use in the community gardens this summer!
🌱The Manitoba Eco-Network was proud to help out with @wbcommunity.bsky.social Seed Starting Workshop as part of our ongoing Climate Safe, Green City project.

This was a great opportunity for the Manitoba Eco-Network to connect with environmentally-conscious students, speak about legal policy in Manitoba, and build relationships with educational institutions within the province.
At the UofM’s Robson Hall, Heather & James spoke about MbEN’s successful advocacy with respect to the Public Interest Expression Defence Act, and at the UofW, spoke about the positive role that environmental regulations can play within the economy.
Recently, our Policy Advocacy Director Heather Fast, and Executive Director James Beddome had the opportunity to speak with students at the University of Winnipeg, and University of Manitoba.

MANITOBA GETS A NEARLY FAILING GRADE:
MB's Government released their yearly budget. However, we noticed there was a lot missing - a complete lack of meaningful funding for climate action!
