I am a single-issue ‘death to the independent city’ voter; every time RVA shows up on some silly Top 10 list because of fucked-up statistics it merely stokes the fires of my civic-governance obsession ever higher

This scans; the overall consensus word for this referendum among the general public has been “contentious,” with basically everybody with partisan leanings activated either for or against. Anecdotally, we had more voters today at the polls whom I would describe as *tense* than in previous elections.

Good morning #RVA and other assorted Virginia friends, it’s Election (Referendum) Day! I’m working as an Officer of Election, which is a thing you can totally just sign up to do. If anyone’s got any questions about voting or How Elections Work feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer when I can!

I’m an election worker and no, you can’t—you can technically write on the ballot, select neither option, or select both options as a form of protest ‘vote,’ and folks do that sometimes, but it does basically nothing tbh.

What a badass! #Jupiter owns his place in this almanac from 1500. #skystorians

I want a "conference" where every academic cooks a dish for everyone and we all talk about our work casually while cooking. People can sous chef for each other. We eat and talk about our work in progress. You submit an abstract and a recipe.

I try not to scold witches for citing the deep magic to me

Because for each law "Everyone Knows" because they were there when it was written, every day there are, on average, 10,000 people in Narnia hearing about it for the first time.

Fraction WHO have heard of it at birth = 0%
Fraction WHO have heard of it by 30 ≈ 100%
US birth rate ≈ 4,000,000/year
Number hearing about it for the first time ≈ 10,000/day

If I make fun of people, I train them not to tell me when they have those moments. And I miss out on the fun.

Stick figure 1: The laws which upon narnia was built "? What's that?
Stick figure 2: Oh MAN! Come on, we're going to the wardrobe
Stick 1: Why?
Stick 2: Youre ONE of today's lucky 10,000.

Maybe you should *stop* obsessing about your own -- and other people's -- sexuality? Feels like it’s about time to do that. You’ve thought about this for *eight hours*?! Not only should you stop, you should tell Kim you've stopped obsessing about other people's sexuality too.

A flyer with the header "Doug Burgum can go fork himself". Text reads:
"whats going on?The DRP comes in a broader context of government
overreach and deliberate traumatizing of federal employees. Why? They
want us gone so they can privatize public lands–but they know RIFing
us would cause public outrage. Plus, most of their incompetent plans
end up overturned by a court. So rather than a RIF, they’re using the
DRP to drive people out. Making our lives hell is a big part of that-
Russell Vought even said they “would put federal employees in trauma.”
The uncertainty around RIFs, threatening reorgs, hiring freezes....
you’re not crazy, it’s a part of a plan to get you to leave. And, they
can go fork themselves. Making this choice. Only you know what you
need. If this work is harming you, that matters.

You can’t resist if you are burned out, miserable, and broken. Do what
is right for YOU. There is no “right” choice. You deserve to feel safe
and supported, and never asked to be put in this position. And–this
doesn’t just affect us today, it shapes what the NPS becomes.Park
staff: We know this makes your work harder, on top of nearly
impossible jobs already. Regional + WASO staff: Don’t let them
convince you that your work isn’t important. It is. If you stay: Hold
the line! Don’t let the bastards get you down.

Slow things down-

put sand in the gears.

Make as many paper trails as possible!

Don’t shame anyone who chooses to leave.

If you go. Don’t give up the fight! Your voice still matters.

Support public lands from the outside!

Share your story and why your work was important.

Be kind to yourself, and support your community. Regardless: Once a ranger,

always a ranger.

What’s happening to parks and public lands isn’t right. The public
deserves to know!

Use your (non-work-affiliated) voice to talk about it. Contact your legislators.

We made this flyer to spark conversation - not to shame. Print it out, put it in your bosses mailbox, send it to your superintendent. And don't let them make you feel crazy. You aren't, and your work matters.
