A comic. Emma is wearing a hospital gown in a nondescript white space. A voice says, “you’re so pretty.” She responds with irritation, “me? you must not have noticed my many flaws i'm actually large and awkward and lumpy and sweaty and i-” She is cut off mid-sentence by a corrective electric shock. “no,” says the voice. “i like your comics,” the voice says. Emma, who is still recovering from the shock, says without thinking, “you are so full of—“ before catching herself and amending to, “nnnice words,” but she can’t stop herself from adding, “but i genuinely can’t see my work as anything but trash and it makes me thínk less of you for liking—” She is cut off again by a shock. “no,” says the voice. The voice says, “you’re a good mom.” “Tha—“ says Emma, starting to contradict, before gritting her teeth and saying, “—ank you. That’s kind of you to say.” She holds her forced smile but flinches, anticipating another shock. Instead, the voice says, “you’re good at your job.” Emma, frustrated, yells, “what???” She quickly tries to add “a sweet thing to say,” but is cut off again by another shock.

The conditioning against it is down right insidious. I know logically that it’s my time and and I can’t “get in trouble” as grown ass adult but I still feel guilty if I take off sick for anything less than the flu. It’s stupid!

There’s something magical about extra early mornings when everything is still quiet and peaceful.

Sorry boss I’m sick (of this shit)

In seriousness, taking a day when you need it, if possible, should be more common place. Get some rest!

Doing refresher training at work and the voice over is CLEARLY AI. Ways to make training even worse: that.

That’s stupid thing to say. I was clearly mad from the start of this thread. I didn’t suddenly get mad when your dumb ass showed up.

For whatever inexplicable reason people equated Trump to better living conditions even though that wasn’t necessarily true and now here we are.

I’m with you on this one. Biden’s admin landed us much more softly than other countries in the world post COVID but Fox News screamed about the economy for two years and that’s what stuck. Doesn’t matter that by all metrics we were improving.

We feel more like we’re being nickel and dimed at every turn so buying power feels lower.

I wonder how much this sentiment may be driven by the number of items people have to spend money on vs 10 or 20 years ago. We are earning more but how much is eaten in up in various charges for whatever reason. You could say budget better and that may be true but…

I think a solution for the characters could have been a “choose your kliff” scenario where you can do full runs with any character, the different skill trees could have made alternate runs feel varied. But since theyre part of the story that won’t work. I dunno just brain storming.
