i think the even bigger point is that what someone's gender is does not tell you anything about who they are as a person but once again i guess we have to keep doing gender essentialism or we'll die

this was sparked by me seeing someone replying to another take saying a cis guy has trans guy energy with "so you admit that you think cis guys and trans guys are different"
well! i can think of a few differences the average cis guy and trans guy might have from each other! they're still both guys!

or even differences that are commonly seen between groups of people, you just need to make room for the fact that there will be similarities too
but we have to separate everyone into mutually exclusive groups or we'll die i guess

ig my point is that there is no experience someone of a certain (type of) gender can have that hasn't been experienced by at least one other person outside of that, bc humans just aren't that different overall at the end of the day, but that doesn't mean there aren't individual differences

this isn't even exclusive to trans people, you can be cis and degendered/likened to the "opposite" gender (inasmuch there is one) based on a bunch of different factors: race, (dis)ability, fatness, and those are just the ones off the top of my head

i do get where the argument of "trans men/women aren't inherently different from cis men/women" comes from and it is broadly correct but i feel like it misses some nuance in the sense that well. not everyone who is currently one gender was raised and treated as that gender their whole life
