New study in JAMA Network Open finds females are at higher risk for #LongCOVID compared to males. The risk peaks in ages 40-55 and is influenced by pregnancy and menopause. Biological differences matter for understanding and treating Long COVID!

Prevalence of Iron Deficiency and Iron-Deficiency Anemia in US Females Aged 12-21 Years, 2003-2020 This study examines prevalence of iron deficiency among females aged 12 to 21 years to inform future screening strategies for iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia.

We found that almost 40% of 12-21 year old females are iron deficient.

An interesting study of gaps between “healthspan” (yrs of healthy life) & “lifespan” across the globe.

Takeaway: the US has amongst the largest gaps, despite relatively low lifespan.
