The Smart Parent’s Guide to Parental Controls YouTube video by Children and Screens

Definitely worth sharing with parents considering parental control apps. Relationships > software, but the software can help!

Reclaiming the Human Element: Why We Should Listen to the "Digital Delusion" In a world that often feels like it’s sprinting toward a fully digitized future, neuroscientist Jared Cooney Horvath’s latest work, The Digital Delusion, serves as a vital and grounded wake-up call. W...

Is "frictionless" learning a mistake?

Neuroscience suggests we need "cognitive friction" to truly learn, yet a total tech blackout ignores the reality of 2026. The goal: use analog foundations to stay the master of the machine, not its servant #edtech #neuroscience

‎Google Gemini Meet Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. Get help with writing, planning, brainstorming, and more. Experience the power of generative AI.

I created a Gem to help me vet #edtech tools. It references ISTE and CoSN documentation to do pre-evaluation. Thanks to @ericcurts.bsky.social for some VERY helpful feedback! Let me know your thoughts once you test it.

Small victory. (I'm in MN - rough time for everyone right now.) My MS students couldn't access Speaker Notes in Slides. Appears to be an issue this week. Work around: Tools > Dictate Speaker Notes (or Ctr Shift S) and you'll see the Speaker Notes option at the bottom of the screen. #GoogleEDU

If teachers do a couple of in class pieces for comparison, they’ll at least have a reference point.

Teachers are using software to see if students used AI. What happens when it's wrong? School districts from Utah to Ohio to Alabama are spending thousands of dollars on these tools, despite research showing the technology is far from reliable.

Overview

Purdue just released their Engineering Gift Guide.
What else would you add to the list?
I'd add traditional Legos (not the fancy kits), a graph paper notebook with ruler and good mechanical pencils (and colored pencils), and a Microbit.

Watching a segment of www.enemiesproject.org - where a pro life man and a pro choice woman have a sit down. Tough to watch, but seeing the human side of people whose ideas are so against what you believe in (at least initially), is powerful. Curious about how students would respond. #EduSky

Shuffle Buddy Foster a strong classroom community by frequently shuffling your seating charts–while respecting your students’ individual needs. Randomize seating charts in one click.

Checking out and liking www.shufflebuddy.com for making seating charts. It allows you to have "keep together" and "keep apart", custom room arrangements, and tagging seats (like front or near teacher) and students for preferential seating. Also imports from CSV. #edtech #EduSky

Actually, Slavery Was Very Bad The president’s latest criticism of museums is a thinly veiled attempt to erase Black history.

I debated writing this. It can feel tempting, upon encountering yet another instance of this administration’s racism, to let it be. How many ways can you say the same thing over and over again? And yet we have to write it down, if for nothing else, so those who come after us know we were against it.

Teachers' Strategies for Pronouncing and Remembering Students' Names Correctly | KQED A mispronounced or forgotten name can have a lasting impact on students on how they feel about school. Teachers provide tips on how to make those names stick.

Prepping for work with faculty starting next week. My school uses Namecoach and a tool in our SIS with names/flashcards. I'm curious what other schools do to make sure students feel known from day 1.
