If Darren Jones is now CDL anyway, doesn’t the new CSPM role lose some of its importance? Is the new story now really the newly formed Department of Growth led by Pat McFadden?
At very least looks like a change if JS is moving dept or bridging across two. If the former then DfE needs a Lords Minister?
The interesting Q re: Polanski taking over the Greens is whether they can keep their strategic ambiguity that has allowed them to win in both progressive and nimby/Tory/conservationist areas.
To be fair to gov, a lot of the changes seem designed to *reverse* exactly what you describe here ie having a single senior policy person and ditto re comms?
A lot of this feels to me like shuffling deckchairs. Successive govts seem to tinker with central functions without fundamentally changing much
I was more interested in the language of ‘phases’ which implies the govt has woken up to the need to signpost and story tell, even if belatedly! 👏

Statistics still awful for care leavers, disability, etc. Seems very unwise to limit just to one form of ‘disadvantage’. Agree with the sentiment but would personally leave it a lot more nuanced. Seems done more for the headlines than the actual policy impact
