What kind of disgusting person boasts of demolishing 50 homes per week?
"Zarbiv, who is a rabbinical judge in civilian life, has been censured by Israel’s judicial watchdog for extremist statements." He had "violated the code of ethics for judges."

"Cracks in the coalition." No, it's just six months from an election. Winston always does this!
That's no excuse for some the rude, wild things they've said to people just asking simple questions about how they're choosing to run things.
Public funding is a good short hand for who should be subject to OIA, but I do think any agency performing a public function (some of which are private organisations) should be covered regardless of funding source. And accountability is not the only reason for the OIA.
If they don't want to be accountable they can stop taking public money.
But not become private schools - they also receive public money, and ought to be subject to OIA too.
I'm not surprised to see a principals' association asking to be exempted from OIA, because some principals seem to think they're monarchs within their grounds and resent any outside engagement - from the public or the ministry or anyone else.
Schools are generally the least OIA compliant public agencies I see. Many will demand to know why you're asking. Others will refuse to talk to you unless you have a child at the school.
Some simply ignore all OIA requests entirely.
School principals want an exemption from the #OIA because they don't want to be held accountable - and they admit it:

The Policing Amendment Bill vastly expands Police surveillance powers and enables the use of body cams without any additional oversight. It also allows Police to designate no-go areas nearly anywhere and on the flimsiest of grounds.

What does it mean when civil disobedience isn't a message to the political system but a rejection of it?

The new TVNZ+ app is so bad that I miss my VCR.
This can't go on. I will have to find a reliable block or shut the thing down.
I have blocked new FYI signups while I work out what to do about AIs sending spam.
But also 90% of logged out traffic is poorly behaved AI bots using up all threads and taking the site down.

Daisy Ridley’s Instagram Story: “The death sentences of 12,000 Palestinian prisoners have been approved. 4,000 of them are children. For wanting to live in their homeland and for defending their occupied territories, a total of 400,000 Palestinians have been martyred over the past 78 years. Now, 12,000 more people will be executed in full view of the world. The executions will take place within 90 days. Please don't be silent. If humanity doesn't rise up today, when will it? If we don't show our humanity today, when will we? Please don't stay silent. Share. Oppose these executions...”

EU: The European Union will require sale of mobile phones with “user-replaceable and longer-lasting batteries” starting in 2027.
The regulation demands “availability of spare parts and manuals for 10 years to curb planned obsolescence”.
I assume by "colonies" you're only counting managed colonies of non-native honey bees.
Do you consider native wild bees at all?
The Israeli army struck civilians in the Lebanese city of Mayfadoun.
And then, the Israelis double-tapped the medics who arrived onto the scene.
And then, they triple-tapped the next wave of medics.
And then, they did it one more time for good measure.
Great, get back to me when you're buying me an apartment with a balcony.
Showers and heavy rain predicted
Heavy rain warning - Orange
Hourly forecast: no rain all day.
I wish we had a halfway competent meteorology agency, rather than an ad agency.
I live in an apartment. Even if we had the time and space my family isn't going to survive on herbs and cherry tomatoes.

No government since at least 1987 has passed 30 or more laws without a select committee vet – until the coalition last month.

Instagram slide from Students for Justice in Palestine, Canterbury @sjpcanterbury on 16 April 2026. "University of Canterbury BANS Keffiyeh at Graduation Ceremony. Overtly racist - an indefensible conscious promotion of Islamophobic ideology."
❗"Unversity of Canterbury Head of Security told a student their keffiyeh was 'inappropriate' & 'did not count as cultural wear.' Student was then threatened with a ban from attending the ceremony unless they removed the keffiyeh. It was confiscated. UC said the keffiyeh was 'promoting protest.'" jfc
Last week, the Israeli government approved a record number of illegal settlements built exclusively for Jews on stolen Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.

I don't think New Zealanders quite grasp that this fuel crisis hasn't even hit yet. The supply chain from extraction to NZ retail is long. When the fuel stops arriving, the problem won't just be high prices.
