"The moment this southern right mother and calf accompanied by a pod of dolphins. As they curiously approached these surfers 4 yrs ago, still blows my mind"
I think there are one or two things Canada could learn from France these days…
This is how it's done!
"a core reserve where fishing is banned outright, surrounded by a buffer zone that allows some artisanal fishing — designed to allow local fishing communities to retain their traditional livelihoods"

Science doesn’t come with gender, race, religion, etc barriers… science organizations do.
Let’s bring them all down.
In a world so fraught with greed, hate, and idiocy, these women are the living example that a better world is possible.
I tip my hat to them. Thanks for the joy & the hope 🚀🌒👏❤️
In Canada we hear many gov assurances that we remain committed to address climate change, while we keep removing climate policies & promoting oil&gas projects wrapped in low carbon & CCS promises.
Promises that will become unviable due to sudden market conditions once the projects are in place….
This is so well done. 👌
There's a nice #Artemis II mission tracker here: artemis.cdnspace.ca
LOTS of data about its current position, crew activities, and whether or not the toilet is currently "Go"
It seems there are no serious consideration of water use nor emissions in this project, & still gets a free pass on the provincial env assessment
This looks the type of project that Nigerian prince that keeps emailing me would want my money for… just saying…

In the middle of the doom and gloom, it is also important to share good news.
Bringing back native species to restore an aquatic ecosystem is no small feat; I really hope this works as planned. Kudos to those involved.

I would like you to join me in taking a breather.
✨A break from doom scrolling, if you will✨
This video is too long so I just included the best part…when Robert Plant cries,I cry 🥹
Heart’s tribute to Led Zeppelin ft. John Bonham’s son on drums.
You are asking the right question…
There are good news here but also clear conflicts (e.g. support for Bay du Nord in an area with Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems).Checking how the issues identified in the Env Impact Statement were resolved would be informative on how the gov addresses trade-offs

Nature knew we were going to need this 🤣🤣
Predictably, the illegal US-Israel war on Iran has made the world a more dangerous place…like if the Russian invasion to Ukraine and climate change weren’t enough.
Mixing greed, idiocy, and guns is never a good combo… 🙄

Determining how climate change impacts tornadoes, hail & severe thunderstorms is tough, as these extremes occur quickly and at small spatial scales.
@climasillinois.bsky.social's Jeff Trapp has studied this for years. Here's their latest: an innovative ensemble approach to model hazardous weather.

More than 1,500 mathematicians are demanding that their field’s most prestigious meeting be moved from the U.S.
Global energy imbalance is on the rise, and since energy cannot just disappear, it has to go somewhere. The mechanisms that currently accumulate this energy have their limits... and I don't think we'll like what happens to our world when they burst...
www.nationalobserver.com/2026/03/30/o...
This is literally world changing, even if we don’t pay attention to it. Somehow the ongoing geopolitical turmoil makes our leaders behave as if climate change has been put on pause… even when they do know better…

“federal estimates show conservation funding is set to be reduced from $953 million in 2025-26 to $366 million in 2026-27.”
“But with the drastic budget cuts that they're looking at, unfortunately, nature seems to be one of the first casualties”
sigh..

🤣🤣 You made me laugh hard!! thanks!! I guess it's called science FICTION for a reason!! 🤣🤣
Moving to one project one env assessment is being discussed in Canada today, where the fed gov would let provincial regulators take the lead in projects within their jurisdictions. The problem is not the policy per se, but how some prov regulators operate...

It is this simple
👇👇👇
Europe spent years debating whether the energy transition was affordable.
Spain quietly answered the question: gas now sets its electricity price in only 7% of hours.
Strategic autonomy doesn’t arrive via summit communiqués. It’s built in advance — in wind farms, solar parks, and grid investment
About 70% of the U.S. economy runs on consumer spending.
But as wealth concentrates at the top, the richest 10% can’t spend enough to sustain it — while everyone else can’t afford to.
Reminder that trickle-down economics simply doesn’t make sense. It’s a hoax.
Fantastic thread by @thierryaaron.bsky.social, and a great reminder that we have to base our political and policy solutions on true system thinking, and that we need to tackle the causes, and not just the symptoms, if we want to have a chance to solve the problems the world faces today.
