Artist Derek Sullivan’s latest project explores a famous sculpture left on Ontario farmland since 1972 About 50 kilometres north of Toronto, contemplating what is probably the most celebrated but least seen example of Richard Serra’s land art

My exhibition, Field Notes, opens tomorrow at the McMichael with a talk at 2pm with curator John Geoghegan. The show collects works produced through a long term study of a farmers field in King City Ontario that is home to Shift 1970 by Richard Serra, a colony of herons, and a wide range of plants.

A homemade replica of a Rietveld zig-zag chair made from ash planks cut from the trunks of trees that died as a result of the invasive emerald ash-borer beetle, with wayfinding compass, whistle and prism.

A horrific image of a someone who seems to have his hands tied behind his back. A big cat (the predator kind, not the overfed pet kind) has jumped up at him and is devouring his face. Blood splashes on the floor.

For Blue Monday we can't think of anything more appropriate than this charming depiction of a man getting his face eaten off by a leopard.
