Fusion centers like GISAC make it clear that the distinction between local police and ICE is illusory. To abolish ICE, we must abolish policing and the surveillance infrastructures fueling both mass incarceration and mass deportation.
Read our new zine on the architecture of APD’s surveillance apparatus and Georgia’s very own DHS-sponsored fusion center, the Georgia Information Sharing & Analysis Center (GISAC).

“Cheap, ubiquitous and always on, cameras are uniquely useful targets. Poorly secured feeds can reveal where officials live, how convoys move and who walked into which building when. And new AI tools can turn that flood of footage into something searchable and operationally useful.”
Now unlocked: Mariame Kaba @prisonculture.bsky.social & Andrea Ritchie @dreanyc123.bsky.social on how to understand the spectacular violence of Trump’s ICE surges as an extension of the violence of everyday policing, and why to abolish ICE we must abolish the police

The way forward won't be building hardened publicly owned data centers, it will be giving public money to defend private data centers.
Opposition to data centers becomes a threat to national security, punishable by law of course.

Everyone, let me introduce to you the largest investor in Flock Safety.
To be clear, none of what has been reported about how police use Flock Safety and other ALPRs is "misuse." Police are using these tools as they were designed to be used.

we are now live!
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

If you haven't, we would recommend reviewing the recent updates Flock made to its terms of service.
Might be worth asking your elected officials if they have seen these updates.

Included in the Homeland Security Unit's report about the April 2023 Stop Cop City "Week of Resiliency" are a number of events with national security concerns, including a bake sale.

“Axon was sued by shareholders last month after rejecting a transparency proposal asking the policing technology firm to disclose its political spending strategy and make transparent all direct and indirect political contributions.”
What's fun about this is that the continued existence of the LAPD also "undercuts the city's promise as a haven for immigrants, those seeking gender-affirming care and other vulnerable groups."

Flock continues to take hits across the country. Flock is not an anomaly.
We need to place the same level of scrutiny on all vendors and the police and corporations who use these tools.
Surveillance isn't safety.

Case in point: Denver contracts with Axon after ending their contract with Flock.

The growing movement to cancel Flock Safety contracts across the country is great. We need to remember that Flock is one of many ALPR vendors and we need to oppose all of them.
If we're not careful, we're going to dismantle Flock only to have Axon or Motorola take their place.
