How to motivate autistic students: Let them access their strongly held interests! School staff won't need to prompt them much—or even at all, plus the students will be more motivated, independent, & relaxed than when given repetitive tasks. By @thewoodbug.bsky.social:

Sounds like an interesting and very important study Gavin.
Sorry to hear that - this sort of issue came out a lot in our research.
Autistic teachers felt they were making a significant contribution to supporting inclusion in school.
Just published, with powerful writing by lead author Dr Jason Lang, our article about core focus of the Neurodiversity in Scottish Schools project.
What do neurodivergent young people, school staff, parents & policy-makers think about inclusion? Open access 👇

Ahead of World Autism Acceptance Day* - I've published an article in The Conversation summarising some key points from our research into autistic teachers 👇
Including barriers, strengths & suggestions for better futures.
*If that's still a thing 🙂

Jeez - so sorry to hear this. There’s so much kicking the can down the road until everything times out in these situations.
Well we do hear about neurodivergent teachers, but not enough.

A real mishmash of research, factoids and blatant prejudice. A report about how families bring up their children without asking a single family for their view.

Poster promoting a book titled “Ramadan Through Autistic Lens – 2nd Ed, March 2026” by SEMA (Scottish Ethnic Minority Autistics). The design features warm beige tones with hanging Ramadan lanterns. At the bottom are two images of the book cover showing an illustrated Muslim woman wearing a hijab. Colorful shapes around her list topics such as executive dysfunction, sensory overload, meltdown moments, routine changes, fasting challenges, prayer, social anxiety, and sleep struggles. The subtitle reads “An Autistic Guide to Ramadan.”
We are pleased to see the positive response to our Autistic Ramadan E-book!
We would like to thank our service users for the learning, our partner organisations and fellow Autistic advocates for the continued love and support over the years & the team who put this together. 🧵👇
She never lived to see this moment, but it’s worth remembering that none of this would have happened without Virginia Giuffre.
She had the courage to speak out against power and privilege when it was just her word against Andrew’s.
Thanks to her, justice & accountability may finally have its day.
Extract from The Guardian website newspaper: The Queen has arrived for an engagement in Westminster just hours after police confirmed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Wearing a velvet, navy coat, Camilla was greeted by representatives of Sinfonia Smith Square where she will attend a lunchtime orchestral concert, PA reports.
From the Guardian website - so glad to hear about the coat! #mountbattenwindsor
Good guess!
I'm now officially obsessed by this whole issue. Eg have been contemplating the pros and cons of self drive versus trailer converted horse boxes. #TheArchers
Although still no official announcement yet which is strange. #TheArchers
#TheArchers From my bro: Not sure about a licence, we just need food hygiene rating so maybe hairdressing equivalent? Wd need permission from council if operating on public land or from landowner if private. Water cd be heated using a generator or by connecting to a mains supply as with a caravan.
Pretty much. There’s a big street food scene as well as festivals. They get a lot of wedding bookings.
Anyway - isn’t Ian doing something similar?
#TheArchers
I will check in with my brother who actually runs his business from a converted horsebox (food related), and it's very successful. #TheArchers
The water supply…#TheArchers
Naturally I also checked online. 'Eric Allan, the actor who played Bert Fry for the last 25 years of Bert’s life has sadly passed away quietly in his sleep. He loved the Archers fans (addicts) and had nothing but positivity from all that he met.
He thanks you all.' From Mike Allan. V odd if untrue.
Excellent commentary by Prof. Vikram Jaswal & colleagues on the need for better thinking and research in relation to assisted typing methods for non-speaking autistic people 👏

#TheArchers Message on the other place that Eric Allan, who played Bert Fry for 25 years, has died. Loved Bert! 🫶

Very much enjoying reading 'Understanding Others in a Neurodiverse World' by Dr Gemma Williams. Scholarly but written in an accessible and conversational style. Some good important arguments, underpinned by research, on autism and communication. 🙌🏻
I think they are doing anything but this.
