His follow-up reply seems to be friendlier, at least.

But yeah, I ain't reading all that!

Konsentite.

Estas interese, ke la neeŭropdevenaj homoj kiuj parolas Esperanton malofte plendas pri tio.

La utileco de la lingvo, kaj la sento de komunumo kiun ĝi alportas, superas ĉion alian.

Just check first you've not accidentally let an Esperantist join, or they'll spend the whole campaign correcting your pronunciation and grammar.

Oh, of course not!

It's about scale; after being hated by Adolf Hitler, do you really imagine your unfavourable opinion is likely to carry much weight?

139 years on, and people are still learning it, using it, and enjoying it.

Try creating something half as enduring!

And be kinder, when you can.

The guy who invented Esperanto died over a century ago, so he's probably not aware of much.

The Nazis absolutely hated Esperanto (a "Jewish conspiracy") so they managed to get quite a lot of Esperantists rounded up, including his kids.

It's amazing people still know about it and learn it today.

I just want an Esperanto book shop.

Sort of a cross between the Travel Book shop in Notting Hill and the Local Shop from League of Gentlemen.

Few customers, whom I can dissuade with a hissed, 'Estas nenio por VI ĉi tie!'

Safe among the Precious Things, drinking coffee, and "writing" my novel. 😁

Don't bother clicking, because that's it. That's the sum of the "article".

In the years to come, when they ask, "When did The Revolution begin?"

This will be the tale that is told...

6 days ago 1 0 0 0

That is,

Becoming expert users of the language, and then writing books, and other published materials to cement usage into the language.

There's no top-down changes that can or will be made in Esperanto.

There's no vote or proclamation to be made.

Usage dictates acceptance and standardisation.

I would disagree with that on several points:

This is Esperanto. There isn't a massive horde of anything.

The majority of language nerds tend to despise Esperanto, and wish it would stop existing.

Those who are vested in said changes aren't actually doing the things that would effect it...

He didn't know much English at all, which is why it took time, and two attempts by other people, to get an English version of the Unua Libro.

IIRC he used a German translation for Hamlet.

The other half of the trick, of course, is skill in Esperanto.

Let us know when you've finished - exciting!😁

To be clear, I really don't give a fuck whether someone likes or learns Esperanto.

But to suggest it somehow "doesn't work" for people in Africa or SE Asia is asinine in the extreme.

It's a foreign language.

People in Africa and SE Asia are perfectly capable of learning foreign languages.

That's fine. Not looking for an argument. Just pointing out the lack of knowledge or experience in your assertion.

What do you mean, it doesn't work?

It's a foreign language. You learn it like any other foreign language.

It's easier for some, but that's true of any language.

Your claims are laughable, given how many people around the world - yes, even in Africa and SE Asia - use Esperanto every day.

Good luck with the French!

(They vetoed the proposal to the League of Nations that Esperanto be adopted for use in international relations, back in the 1920s)

Unfortunately, as French was in the 1920s, so English is in the 2020s.

But I'd recommend anyone to pick up some basic skills in Esperanto.

*squints in Esperanto*

Ĉu!? 🤔😂

(Sorry about this, Ariadne. Unfortunately, mentioning Esperanto on social media is a bit like Field of Dreams:

"If you say it, they will come."

It's a whole summoning thing. Give it a while and we just drift off looking for others of our kind... 😁)
