I just wanted to clear up why there is regulation around this. I'm not an expert, but my sources are from people in the know-how on renewables. There are a few gotchas with renewables, but that is okay. Engineers figure out how to fix it and then that is one less excuse deniers can use.

Note that this is illegal because during a power outage, solar creata electricity that is back fed into the system, potentially placing workers at risk of electrocution.

Unfortunately, you still have to plan ahead. I have driven from central CA to SoCal and I still can't rely on finding a charge point whenever running low, like you can with gas. Especially near Bakersfield.
