Elle Fanning on her @offmenuofficial.bsky.social ep is just absolutely delightful. I wasn't expecting her to be a diva or anything but the podcast is sometimes a more functional fit for US folks on a promotion tour - especially actors - but she's just totally into it and positively fizzy.

Similarly the 'Ron's exes' gags always felt a little gross to me at first flush, but the actors all sort of sold it despite that.
(Megan Mullaly characters are quite often deeply objectionable but her chaos energy is so specific I usually end up enjoying her.)
Also, as cheap as they are, daft porn parody names are pretty much the only sort of pun I usually find funny, so I was always pleased to see those.
Rewatched/binged it all again recently and you're absolutely right here, although I choose to see Lesley's disdain for Brandi as a little like the constant negging of Jerry, one example (of many) of Lesley's first instinct often being to be deeply unlovely.
(Doubt that's the intention mind.)

Now that's pedagogy!
As an education guy of 25 years I'm always interested in innovative teaching, so rapt as 12 year old explained his geography teacher brings global politics & socioeconomics alive by habitually referring in class to his students as 'high' or 'low' income countries based on their capability in class.
Reminded me of this from earlier today.
Literally a white South African, living in America, signalling this virtue. In his case it ONLY makes sense if one is a white supremacist, because he's NEVER spoken the native language of the place he resides.
Did the "rare family photo" have his sister in it?
Fuck this guy to hell.
you shouldn’t learn about bands from shady TikTok manipulation, you should learn about bands by hanging out with a girl you like but are also extremely afraid of

As an autistic person, I don't especially need people to validate my rituals, routines or special interests, so much as the feelings that drive them. My preference for things to be done a certain way comes from intense anxiety, & recognising the reality of that anxiety is the bit that matters to me.

As Orbán bites the dust, it’s worth remembering this old Farage confession in the clear. He always seems to be compelled to thank foreign entities for their help in damaging our national interests - it has echoes of a serial killer taunting the police.👇
It's why when the Zionists relentlessly demand condemnations of their imperfect victims and their responses to oppression, the liberal (whether they dub themselves socialist/leftist, whatever, doesn't matter. see how they act, not what they call themselves) will debase themselves by obeying.
What Kwame Ture said about Liberalism and Liberals decades ago applies even now when you see ppl claiming to be 'leftist' but behaving exactly like this towards Palestinians.
They may not identify as a liberal or might even loathe the term, but they are precisely that very thing in practice.
Quite fun seeing right wingers getting upset about this graphic, from a high school textbook, over on Twitter (including Musk), because it feels pretty uncontroversial to me and it gives them less to fret about than it does the rest of the political landscape in 2026. Very little literacy needed.
Eve Barlow struggles with numbers over 10.
(I feel like one could also say 'there was a terrorist attack with a huge tragic loss of life but at least we got this amazing movie')
Got to take the crunchy with the smooth, I always say (about peanut butter, not really relevant here and also I'm not sure it makes sense about peanut butter either).
I don't think that anecdotal experience will really prep you for the clip Sooz shared, which has nothing to do with any of that.
The new VERY hagriographic Michael Jackson biopic starring MJ's nephew is out at the end of the month. But back in 2004 an unauthorised and EQUALLY flattering biopic was made in Canada. Here is a clip and I promise you have NO idea where it's going. I haven't done a single edit here.
moisturized, unbothered, flourishing, in his lane
(I dislike Ye but feels a bit like him chiming in on Adolescence, Kneecap, and also being someone the likes of JKR can always rely on to be activated into a soundbite on shit he has no expertise in.)
I sort of agree but also think that a big part of the problems we're facing generally at the moment are not unrelated to the apparent requirement that our top politicians are available and willing to comment on every slightest fucking pop culture scandal and facilitate it dominating news cycles.
screenshot from wikipedia: My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry with him a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the President. If ever the President wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The President says, "George, I'm sorry but tens of millions must die." He has to look at someone and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It's reality brought home. When I suggested this to friends in the Pentagon they said, "My God, that's terrible. Having to kill someone would distort the President's judgment. He might never push the button." — Roger Fisher, Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, March 1981
good to know that this wouldn't have worked in the long run. you can picture the glee with which he would start carving. "boy, they implanted this capsule really deep. we had walter reed working on it, tremendous surgeon, next time will be even deeper, possibly. the deepest"
I think it's a mistake to say that Trump has threatened nuclear use when he did not do so explicitly. The US can easily destroy a whole country with conventional weapons and doing so should not be allowed to count as backing away from the brink.
losing contact with the earth for 40 minutes sounds nice
Couple of late nights watching movies with my kids this weekend but it's been worth it. Midway through Apollo 13 yesterday I realised we were going to have to watch Hidden Figures today.
