It was great to finally "get back to the game" after a long hiatus away from conferences. Thanks to the organizers of @vrsummit.bsky.social for the event and great talks, demos, networking, and all the hard work that went into it. See you all next year hopefully :)

Thanks for this workshop and networking opportunity!
This is devastating news. Her work has been instrumental to most of what I do today :( I have had the opportunity to only hear her speak once at a conference and was hoping to meet her in person some day. Not a great news to start the year.
I'll tell the guys they tied RD2 :D
I am currently on my way to Budapest for Emerging Technology Conference happening at MOME. I will talk about our long ongoing project studying digital twins of nature for research and well-being purposes. Excited to meet new scientists and artists and forge new connections.

Great list, found a bunch of new people after coming back to this platform after a year long hiatus :)
I know! :D That is why it is bugging me. The fact that he got only one paper and it was from North Carolina Uni, when THE William Gibson was born in South Carolina sets my alpha levels tingling. It's probably nothing (he was living in Canada at the time), but it will not let my inner Sherlock go :)
I am only now getting to some of the April 1st content and this hits home :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vCO... #vr #virtualreality
While researching a topic, I found that in 95 Dan Ariely (RIP), published a paper Towards Quantifying Depth and Size Perception in Virtual Environments with William Gibson and it is eating me that I can't figure out if it is THE William Gibson or not doi.org/10.1162/pres... Somebody got a clue?
I have had my year long hiatus from coding in javascript. I missed it. But what I haven't missed is solving problems for 3 hours before finding out there is an issue with the library (and not a small one, React in this case). JS community should really slow in pushing "production ready" code.
Welcome Unreal to the heart of Europe :) Hope I can attend
So far, the headset looks great, everything works software wise (unlike vive) but the chromatic aberration is abysmal :( won't know if I have a faulty lenses or what this is, but this is worse than vive 1 :(
After a year in slow hybernarionI am back to VR development :) And thanks to other colleagues at Univerzita Karlova, I have a new toy to test #vrcademicsky #vr #varjo
The first Unboxings are up #vracademicsky

So Apple realizes that the device is heavy and you might want (*cough* need *cough*) to relieve the preassure by the top headstrap, they will just charge you extra hundred bucks for it #VR #visionpro

I agree I look not only like a total dork, but also as a harbinger of things to potentially come. But watching Ghost in the Shell in a massive cinema while on a bus is eerily dream-like #virtualreality #vr #metaquest3
Nvidia releases a video about how gorgeous its graphics are thanks to DLSS, DLAA etc.
Me trying to watch the video on 300 kbps connection
Well we finished Attack on Titan. And I have a lot of questions, but Gavin summarizes my main question about the last episode nicely #attackontitan #aot

As parents, staying up until midnight can be a challenge, knowing we'll be back up in just a few hours. But we made it to the countdown thanks to the gripping story of 'Attack on Titan, reaching the 20th episode of the final season with the fireworks and what a 'weird way to end the year' 😅
It's the worst one in our history :(
Gl trying to develop in 4.27, 5.2 and 5.3 on a same machine. Each one requires different android jdk and ndk, some need Java, others don't. Registry is filled with obsolete info, unreal just breaks. I needed to edit registries by hand and edit epic own bash scripts to actually make it work
Unfortunately yes. For a long time quest was supported only as a separate fork of unreal which you had to build. Now they have plug-ins, but they break with updates. The biggest pain is setting up android environment though. It doesn't ship with unreal and changes with each version.
Apparently, if you offer a tip a perfect response, ChatGPT will provide longer responses.
I am finally planning on playing with it in January. So far I only managed to spend 12 hours trying to make unreal play nice with quest :D love unreal, but it is quirky as hell
As a non-native speaker, I selected both. Just in case #academicsky
VR people have been training for this for many years! This is nothing to htc vive times :) #vrcademicsky
Academics seem to be getting on the train naming things after anime characters/show. Approved 👍
Things you can say during an academic meeting but not at a family dinner. I'll start.
"Are you ready for the submission?"

Here is a pickle. If somebody solved the issue of plastic bags being stuck and unable to open, how much human time and consequently life could be saved? Seriously considering it 🤔 #academicsky
