Nothing we do is ever dangerous enough or an “atrocity” the way it is everywhere else in the world. And this has convinced most Americans that there’s no way that those terrible things from the past could happen here. But we’re not only capable, we’re quite experienced in the forces of oppression.
The most dangerous myth US Americans have subconsciously accepted is American ✨Exceptionalism.✨ While we celebrate our successes, Exceptionalism also means we’ve convinced ourselves that we’re incapable of making the same mistakes other people/state make. It’s not the same when WE do it.

1. Realigning and strengthening the Republican Party
2. Economic protection through tariffs

It seems clear to me that this whole TikTok ban has turned into a PR stunt for Trump. The error message you see when you try to access the app praises Trump, even though he’s the one who started this whole thing. TikTok will be back, but what backdoor deals have been made? What’s the cost?
In hindsight this was probably not the best weekend to switch up my anxiety meds.
