Scott Santens (@scottsantens@hachyderm.io) New article from me about the Marshall Islands becoming the first country with a Universal Basic Income, what the details are, how it came to be, and what may come next. Side note: It's hard to express how big a deal this is, especially for me personally. I hope this is the first of many dominoes. https://open.substack.com/pub/scottsantens/p/marshall-islands-just-implemented-ubi?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web #UBI #BasicIncome

Aleksandar Vacić (@aleck@mastodon.social) Attached: 1 image The "best way to build iOS apps"™ is not the best way if the only way to resolve this is start removing parts of the ViewBuilder content one by one until you find the offending piece. This, right here, is not acceptable in 2025. It is abysmally bad look for SwiftUI and Swift compiler and should be top fracking priority at Apple.

If I mistype an enum case, I’d love to know that, not that my result builder is just invalid now. https://mastodon.social/@aleck/115407466831250300

This. I get that it’s not the swift compiler that is the issue. But the overall developer experience can hit such a hard strange cliff so quickly. It not easy to teach how to adequately debug these issues because the error provided is so disconnected from the source of the error.

Will Lumley (@wlumley@mastodon.social) 🚀 New blog post! AsyncCombine: Because Async Code Shouldn’t Be Ugly I built AsyncCombine to bring back Combine’s expressive syntax - sink, assign, CombineLatest, and more - but powered by Swift Concurrency. Why? Because observing an @Observable class’s properties from a SwiftUI view is easy - but doing the same from another ViewModel got way harder and messier once @Published disappeared. Check out my article that goes over how I solved it. 🔗 https://lumley.io/blogs/async-combine/

I tried! 😅 it’s a python backend, but we are doing some fun things around data syncing and offline/local first data.

I am using your open API generator though!

It does mean some extra conditional checks around things that are iOS only, but I generally want to write code that isn't _specific_ to iOS expect for where it really needs to be.

db and backend infrastructure with PowerSync. Using dependency injection with services with matching endpoints.

Both fully native apps and I get to focus on the ways to make them both feel right on their perspective platforms.

Building a proof of concept web app in swift on the server with htmx has been some pure joy programming. I could maybe build it faster with React, but being able to have essentially no state on the client (besides the url params and search) makes things so much simpler to understand and follow.
