making a beat by pasting oneshots on the timeline is valid but to me it's not good enough. i need to put in real effort and have ppl wondering how i created that sound. the producers that make the sample packs are the ones that actually make it in the industry because they are the frontier

i want to have an entirely unique sound and while i recognize sampling is a core facet of beatmaking i am not trying to sound like anyone else plus what i hear in my head doesn't exist in any sample packs. i want to be like virtual riot or chime... ppl that can create literally any sound.

plus actually designing kicks and hats and bass and pads and synths in serum greatly expands my knowledge and is way more fun than copy paste but takes so much more effort. i want to expand genres in an entirely new way. skrillex could never have made it that far by using samples.

i want people to download My sample packs because i have a Unique sound that i invented myself. i want to have music so unique that it's instantly recognized as mine upon first listen. i dont think thats possible if im just using other people's samples and resampling/editing them

i know it's fine to use other ppls samples (drums, snares, pads, literally everything) to make your own original music but i honestly think it makes it harder to come up with something truly original if you're not making the sounds yourself....
