Came here to mention the Dar man.

Most oft? Efficiency: like Wayland or MacOS removing x86 support cut bloat and opened doors; Wayland is even more secure than X11
Niche: renaming files while they’re open isn’t allowed in windows because the name is part of the pointer (kept for backwards compatibility when other OSs let you do it)
(in the context of software)
I understand why backwards compatibility is important for many applications, but I often feel like it’s “ why we can’t have nice things”.
If you need it, you NEED it. If you don’t, it’s just holding back progress.
I remember distinctly thinking “if the RC is saying we should ALWAYS have access to our commander, there’s no reason NOT to go all-in on all-or-nothing game-warping commanders anymore”
And coincidentally I feel like there’s way more all-or-nothing, kill-on-sight, game-warping commanders than ever
Anyway apparently I have a lot of hot takes, so enjoy some free engagement numbers lol
My biggest “old man yells at cloud” take is that I liked tuck & clones killing commanders
I remember reading the announcement article; a lot of the what the RC said was basically “you should ALWAYS have your commander.” I also felt like it was serious mixed signals to leave cards like Oubliette in
On older games:
One of the reasons I like B2 is because it’s more like “what I would have predicted commander would look like in 2026 if you asked me in 2009”
Like I knew power creep would happen but the second order derivative on it has been way more than I ever would have thought
I play mainly B2. I view the GC list as “a second banlist of cards I don’t want to have to see but that people who want a higher power can play”
From that perspective I think “Sol Ring as GC” makes a lot of sense — even if the move is lateral for B3
Anecdotally many entrenched in B2 cut Sol Ring
Very cute. Much spin.
The fact that Spelltable quit @spellbot.io is a blessing in disguise; I tried @convoke.games's product and was extremely surprised with just how much better it is than spelltable: more features & stuff actually working.
Try it out for your next #EDH #Commander game: convoke.games/en
For most, internet socialization is inherently “less fulfilling” than face to face… when you add how social media be these days… it’s easy to see how the good gets drowned out.
But yeah, there’s a lot of people I wouldn’t know if not for the internet — and there’s a lot to be grateful for in that!
I love spellshapers. I do feel like many of them have been power crept out of the game (even as someone who only plays bracket 2).
Dawnstrider is insane though.
Here’s a helpful vod for anyone trying to get the most out of their clothes: youtu.be/xEXLUc7-W0g?...
In the same helpful PSA spirit as @techconnectify.bsky.social ‘s vod about getting the most out of your dishwasher: youtu.be/jHP942Livy0?...
Out of pocket post but… I highly recommend hang drying clothes if you have space:
- rack costs like $20 on amazon
- save $$ on electricity
- clothes last longer
- stains get “baked in” when you machine dry
Also most peeps can def get away with washing on “cold” and one of the lighter settings
This card used to slap back in the day.
But back then games were slower and people had stronger creatures individually. Now it’s hard to justify such a high MV (if you buyback) but also people are more likely to have wide synergy boards instead of one valuable target.
I love this card! One of my pet cards is Revenge of Ravens. For one extra mana you protect planeswalkers and reduce some of the damage too.
Great cards for Valgavoth Harrower of Spouls.
Great card if your in Orzhov, but I feel like a lot of decks that would run this are in Abzan and play Culling Ritual instead.
My Orzhov deck is the exact opposite and loves cards like Retribution of the Meek lol
I used to run this in my Emmara, Soul of the Accord deck. Great pick!
Dear ALL #mtg #commander #edh content creators. Especially @33elk.bsky.social & @edhrecast.bsky.social !!
This is a public plea to STOP raising awareness about Thraben Charm! That card is straight fire and I want to keep it to myself.
Thanks!!

Why have you done this?
I came to Bluesky to advertise my #mtg #edh #commander articles. This article is sort of about games as a whole!
(and yes, “axes” here is meant to be the plural of “axis” — not the plural of “axe”)

I don’t think I’m picking up what you’re laying down.
My idea of rating is comparative and evolves with context:
A 10 could become 9 if I see better things or many things that follow its formula
With enough time, context, and points of comparison... what was once a 10 could metamorphose into an less memorable feeling 5
When it comes to movies && TV shows, I believe in Horseshoe Theory: If a show is a 10/10 or a 1/10 I'll usually find it to be memorable and have a good time watching it.
The worst thing a show can be is 5/10: unmemorable, not challenging the viewer in any way, not trying anything, safe
As a (not all too successful) MTG content creator myself, I feel you.
I applaud you and the Cast team for striking a good balance! AND I’ll comment that I love niche “challenge the stats” segments and would overall be here for more stuff you want (but I don’t drive the view algorithm)
My New Year's resolution is to use more em-dashes —
It's a cool punctuation and it looks good; I will not let AI take this from me.
I love that FUKKIRETA is making a small resurgence.
I am disappointed that some of them don’t sound great.
PSA: The #mtg #edh #commander bracket system is NOT designed to fit every deck that exists.
It is designed to create 5 centralizing points people will build their deck towards.
BUILD TOWARDS YOUR INTENDED BRACKET
This bird explains it well:

Also, on @danaroach.bsky.social ‘s brilliant challenge the stats this ep…
If you’re searching on scryfall, using “fo:” (full oracle) instead of “o:” (oracle) can help find things you wouldn’t otherwise because it includes reminder text
E.g. “fo:poison fo:counter” will find Snake Cult Initiation
Game data for this past 1 year of bracket 2 games in small server
Great episode! I love comparisons of data like this.
I have a [bracket 2]-only spelltable server that tracks our data and has 618 games logged (you folks have more games recorded than me by now)
We definitely have some different methodology if you ever want to compare HMU
