Please don't play the Silent Hill 2 remake before playing the original SH2. You'll ruin the experience. It's a poor imitation. You can play the original for free.

I think I need to step away from the silent hill subreddit because it's driving me up the wall like I'm one of those gimmicky, unscary-ass spider mannequins

The best thing about the Silent Hill 2 remake is that it's encouraging some people to give the original sh2 a chance.

I'm so tired of pretending that the remake isn't offensively bad. It's a 6/10 game in general but a 2/10 remake of sh2.

I hate James Sunderland as a person but I love him as a character.

Both James and Silent Hill 2 have been my special interest for 15 years.

Nobody would argue that playing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories gives you an experience equivalent to playing SH1. The Silent Hill 2 "remake" needs to be viewed the same way. It's not a replacement/substitute for SH2. They're different games. The characters are different people.

Please play the original Silent Hill 2. It is an experience unlike anything else in gaming.

I get very confused when I see people claiming that sh2r is faithful to sh2 because...it's not. If you like the remake that's fine but it's not Silent Hill 2. Please play the original!

Not to be that asshole, but...

I'd say that SH2R was written by people who clearly have a passion for the source material but fundamentally misunderstand what made it special/what made it work.

There are also many characterization decisions made that (imo) rewrite who characters are entirely.

The box was in that condition when I bought it (used) over 10 years ago, haha. I keep it tucked away in a drawer so it can't be further damaged!
