The Dangers of California’s Legislation to Censor 3D Printing California’s bill, AB 2047, will not only mandate censorware on all 3D printers; it will also criminalize the use of open-source alternatives. Repeating the mistakes of DRM won’t make anyone safer,

Compared to other 3D printer laws proposed this year, California’s is the most troubling. It criminalizes open source, reduces consumer choice, and creates a new bureaucratic burden. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

If you're on signal & haven't already, maybe go to

Settings → Notifications → Content → Name Only or No Name or Content

Because apparently phone forensics can scrape msgs from notifications storage.

Not just a signal problem, btw. Any encrypted messaging service w/ a "msg preview" type of setting

illegal trade, live animal markets, and time in trade predict the number of pathogens shared with humans

illegal trade, live animal markets, and time in trade predict the number of pathogens shared with humans

Two things we can do to stop the next pandemic:
1️⃣ Reduce wildlife trade.*
(👉 *But: criminalization drives trade underground, and we find that illegal trade accelerates spillover. We need new ideas.)
2️⃣ Ramp up disease surveillance in wildlife markets, farms, and supply chains.

Is Brion Gysin’s and William Burroughs’ “cut up method” a form of “visionary poetic necromancy?” Yes—in the sense that Burroughs and Gysin themselves described and practiced it as a divinatory, voice-summoning poetic technique that revives and channels the “dead” vitality of words.

I forget the one that has a touch screen and around the same pricepoinf but I’ll look it up and send it after work today. I haven’t tested it but I want to get it for a portable movie player (flights, train rides, etc) so I don’t have to worry about streaming those or the storage space on phone

Not sure if they’ve fixed it yet but in the past firmware updates seemed to do a factory reset and wipe all on device music that wasn’t on an SD card (bonus of it is ability to use SD card, can have different libraries on different ones)

I’m a command line junky and also like the style of menu and button usage it has. Takes some learning the button functions but I use it daily and it becomes muscle memory quickly. Word of advice though, any time you update the firmware back up your music and playlists
