I am back behind the counter of the Video Store Podcast. This week I am recommending four films where the main characters are shrunk down and need to confront a world that is very different and usually a lot more dangerous

A messy bedroom from Ted, with Ted the teddy bear standing on a rug beside a wooden bunk bed. The room is cluttered with clothes, snack trash, a cereal box, soda cans, a colorful ball, and a blue beanbag chair. Near the floor in front of Ted is a paper cup with an orange and yellow flower pattern among the mess.

We don't get a lot of modern TV show appearances of the Orange and Yellow Flowers Paper Cup, but in the most recent season of the tv show, Ted, we get the cup in the background of two scenes.

In my continuing my Back to the Future podcast series, I am discussing the Animated Series. This show came out when my interest in Saturday Morning cartoons was waning, but I went out of my way to make sure I watched it.

Close view of a vintage Jerrold cable box with a fake woodgrain top and a row of black channel buttons across the front. A handwritten and printed channel guide is taped above the buttons, listing old cable stations like HBO, MTV, C SPAN, USA, CNN, and Nickelodeon. A large slider sits on the left side, a tuning wheel is on the right, and the box rests on a wooden table with its cord coiled behind it.

Wasn't sure I was going to like the new Dirty Mountain Dew, but a citrus creamsicle soda is just what I needed today.

A slightly faded yearbook photo under the heading “Computer Club” shows nine high school boys lined up indoors against a brick wall, dressed in sweaters, plaid shirts, and slacks straight out of 1982. In the middle of the group, for reasons known only to the club, a Commodore computer has been dumped in a trash can and proudly included in the pose like it is one of the members. Everyone faces the camera with the serious expression of students who may be smarter than everyone else in the building and know it.

Chewbacca's Bandolier Strap, from 1983.

Chewbacca's Bandolier Strap, from 1983.

In 1983, Kenner released "Chewbacca's Bandolier Strap," essentially a sash that doubled as a carrying case for Star Wars figures. This was, as I discovered on multiple occasions, not considered high fashion by most.

Illustrated Adam 12 lunchbox art showing two uniformed police officers beside a black iron fence, with one using a long handled grabber while a little boy crawls under the fence and a girl stands nearby holding a doll. A small black and white dog is in the grass in front, with parked cars, trees, and buildings in the background. The title ADAM 12 appears in large letters across the top.

My favorite type of storylines on the TV show Adam-12. This was on the show and it made it on the lunchbox.

They are aware of the issue and are working on it (but it would be good for @bsky.app to get this word out!)

I much prefer the monster of the week episodes of The X-Files. Maybe the reboot will lean more in them.

I never got to go to an Atari Computer Camp, but I never forgot about my attempts to convince my mom to send me. Despite wanting to go, I still didn't know much about them, so today I take a look at the origins, cost, rise, and fall of Atari Computer Camps.

The eggs have gotten smaller and I think they taste different, but I still find myself buying Cadbury Creme Eggs each year. I think this commercial might be why.

Black and white Atari Computer Camps ad with the headline, Not Just Another Summer Camp. In the center, two cartoon kids sit facing each other and roast marshmallows over the glowing screen of an Atari computer like it is a campfire. Below, the ad says learning is part of the fun at Atari Computer Camps and lists features including coed ages 10 to 16, 2, 4, or 8 week sessions, convenient locations, no computer experience required, traditional camp activities, and professional camp directors. Near the bottom it gives a toll free phone number, shows the Atari logo, and includes a mailing address for more information.
