YouTube tested this change and found this resulted in fewer people turning off push notifications entirely.
It's also unlikely to cause a drop in views as many channels don't get a significant number of views from notifications in the first place.
Updates to YouTube Push Notifications to Keep Your Audience Engaged Announcement Hi Creators, We recently ran an experiment to see how we could make notifications more relevant for your subscribers, while also reducing the number of people who turn them off. Based on those results, we’re rolling out some updates to how push notifications (the alerts that pop up on your phone's lock screen) work for subscribers who have selected the "All Notifications" bell setting.
For inactive “All” subscribers: An “inactive ‘All’ subscriber” is a subscriber who has not watched your channel anywhere on YouTube for approximately a month AND has received one or more notifications from your channel on their phone recently but not engaged with any of them AND has opted into receiving ”All” notifications. For this audience, we’ll continue delivering notifications directly to their Inbox, but no longer send push notifications to their devices. If an inactive “All” subscriber watches your channel later from any source, we will resume sending them push notifications. For everyone else: Nothing changes! Subscribers who have engaged with notifications or watched your channel recently (from anywhere, not just through notifications) will continue to receive both a push notification and an update in their Inbox.
Subscribers who enable all notifications from your channel won't actually get all notifications unless they watch your videos or click the notifications.
No engagement for about a month means you will stop getting mobile push notifications. (YouTube Inbox is unaffected)

YouTube likeness detection is expanding to the entertainment industry (talent agencies, management companies, and the celebrities they represent). This detects visual face matches like AI generated deep fakes.
It's also available to YouTube Partner Program creators.

Threads is making it easy to quote post.
When you compose a post you can click the Quote icon, which brings you to a list of all your Posts, Likes and Saves for easy quote posting.
I'm looking forward to trying it. I'm not keen on some of the hardcore AI tools where the result doesn't quite look like me any more, and this sounds a lot more subtle.
Google Photos added a digital airbrushing Touch-up Tool (requires Android 9+ and 4GB+ RAM).
Options for adjusting faces include heal blemishes, smooth, under eyes, irises, whiten teeth, eyebrows and lips. You can adjust the intensity of the change.

YouTube Audio Library License You can use Short Music tracks to publish your video to YouTube Shorts only. Videos that are lesser the allowed duration of the specific Shorts Music track can be shared on YouTube Shorts with the Shorts Music track. Videos up to 15 seconds duration using Shorts Music tracks can be saved to your gallery with music.

These tracks are ONLY licensed for Shorts. Videos using a Shorts teach must be directly published to Shorts.

This is a popup overlay that prevents site visitors from viewing the content until they complete an action like watching an ad or giving you they're email.

No, YouTube does NOT let you turn off or hide Shorts on your subscriptions or elsewhere in the app.
However you can set your Shorts feed scrolling time limit to zero to prevent yourself from watching.
