Artemis II Return
NASA's Orion spacecraft carrying Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialist Christina Koch from NASA, along with Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen from the CSA (Canadian Space Agency), splashes down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California, at 5:07 p.m. PDT, (8:07 p.m. EDT) on Friday, April 10, 2026. The Artemis II test flight launched on Wednesday, April 1, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to begin its 10-day journey around the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars. The Wren: Folklore’s most unlikely king The unassuming Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) may be tiny in size, weighing just 6 grams, but its story is bigger than its small stature. This diminutive bird holds a profound place in the cultural…

Plus they feature in mythology worldwide: uncannylounge.com/2024/06/18/t...

Discovering, as I experiment with @avesparatodos.bsky.social, that Wrens have great names not only in German ("Zaunkönig / Fence King") and French/Latin ("Troglodyte"), but also Mexican Spanish ("Saltapared / Wall Jumper").

The USPS can't "run out of money," the sole question is the people in charge of the federal government believe delivering mail is worth funding the same way they already fund armed kidnapping gangs, concentration camps, and blowing up girls' schools.

Is Schoolwork Optional Now? Education is on the verge of becoming fully automated.

There's a sophomore quoted in @lilashroff.bsky.social's latest who sought help at Barnard's writing center and watched as a tutor copied and pasted the essay prompt into Perplexity and handed her the resulting outline. "I had a crashout about that afterwards... Why am I even here?”

Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.

The most destructive intersection of alt text and AI isn’t that the former is being used to train the latter.

It’s that people are really excited to use AI to produce alt text, which it is generally very bad at, and expect blind folks to be grateful for it, even though it’s shit.

I think it's ludicrous you're more worried about what a stranger chooses to purchase with their very limited assistance that a tiny fraction of your taxes go to than you are about the large fraction of taxes you pay to kill strangers all around the world & at home.

Fix your heart.
